It can be one of the prettiest plays in football and, when executed properly, can make an offensive coordinator look like a genius. It can make linebackers, safeties and even TV cameramen look foolish.

The play-action pass is an NFL art form. For the Steelers, it’s a lost art.

In 2013, the Steelers used play-action on 11 percent of their passing plays. That was the lowest percentage in the league. The Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks used play action on a league-high 35 percent...........

We probably didn't use the play-action much last year because 1) we didn't even know how to block on regular plays, and 2) we couldn't even complete regular passes. Crawl walk run.

You have to be able to run the ball effectively in order for playaction to really work. Which, of course, is why the Seahawks used it so much, and why the Steelers haven't.

It all starts in the trenches.

(Though can't say Seattle has much of a line...)

I'd be happy with more action period.

You also have to be able to hold your blocks for the deeper routes that are typically used off of play action to develop.

Neither running the ball or holding blocks for over 2 seconds has been a strength of this team of late.

The Steelers went from faking out nobody with BA's predictable offense to the Steelers not faking out anybody under Haley's anemic offense.
