Here's a little pre draft info on Blanchflower. It seems the Cheats were interested in him also. I think this kid is going to do well.

Heh I was half expecting this thread to announce he'd been cut. Availability is nine tenths of the law.

(the other tenth is Dan McCullers)

I think McCullers is more like nine tenths of the Law and ten tenths of the Order.

At UMass, they called him Gronkflower and Baby Gronk. If he can make the jump, he has some tools.

We could really use another solid TE.

Heath is getting up there in age.

He was a local at UMass, so it is very likely the Pats "were interested" simply to save on bus fare.

Never really had any success drafting TEs in the 7th Round. Not expecting much out of this pick.

Could be, but he has more tools than the 3 or 4 behind Miller in camp.

how often do we even draft one that late? The only recent one I can recall is David Johnson, and he did well for us as an H-back. Blanch would make it easily if not for Will Johnson

rounds 5-7 seems to be our " token TE " selection ... Paulson also fits that bill , as for the rest you cant recall that shows the amount of impact they made LOL

steelers have drafted 6 TEs since 2000 in rounds 5-7

But he can block, catch, run and hold onto the ball all within the same play. No one behind Miller can do that! :chuckle:

Lol Paulson is so bad i forgot he existed.

Well, i was a blanchflower fan when he was drafted and im sticking with it even though I rarely think much about late round picks. his stock would be quite a bit higher if not for him being surrounded by an absolutely horrific team and if not for an injury the past season that hampered his production.

Actually, Blanchflower is the 10th TE taken by the Steelers in the 7th-Round. More than double the total for any other round.

Blanchflower, Paulson, Johnson, Craig Keith, Russ Campbell, Chris Kelky, Alan Andrews, Mark Dufresne, Barry Burton, Scott Garske (back in 1974.)

We might have better luck if we just took basketball players that don't go pro.
