Steelers President Art Rooney II said today that the NFL has informed the team it will not be docked a pick in the 2014 Draft because of the incident involving Coach Mike Tomlin in the Thanksgiving night game against the Ravens in Baltimore.

For straying onto the field during a kickoff return by Jacoby Jones, Tomlin was fined $100,000, and at the time the NFL informed the Steelers that it could inflict additional punishment in the form of making the team forfeit a pick in this year’s draft. Now, that will not happen.

They had no case to do so. I guess this is an attempt to try and look more credible than they actually are

$100k is too much even if Tomlin makes $5m.

I didn't expect this to go anywhere.

Is this story from The Onion?

Still doesn't make it OK with me. This determination should have been made back in January when it was obvious the Ravens weren't going anywhere. We shouldn't have been kept in suspense about it until almost April, especially after not only Harbaugh but also another member of his staff walked onto the field during a live play during a playoff game and not a goddamn thing was done to them over it after Tomlin got tagged for $100K.

I'm glad they eventually dropped that idiotic idea, but the fact that it even got anywhere close to that point is gay dicks.

This means they are going to rob the Steelers of their 3rd round compensatory pick that they deserve

I wouldn't be surprised if that projected 3rd rounder "turns into" a 5th or 6th rounder when it's actually awarded. Wouldn't be surprised one bit.

Perhaps the best news of the off season, which doesn't say much for our off season.

I truely believe the only reason it was dropped is due to the Rooney's stating they would fight it. I don't get why Go to hell is so hell bent on trying to make the Steelers organization his personal whipping boy. It is about time the Rooney's stepped in and spoke up, I can only hope this is the start of them becoming more involved in protecting their team and the organization.
