Could be that Woods, the team, or both just want to see what another team will offer before they sit down and talk seriously.

Steelers do this all the time. If you got a guy you would like to have but he is not critical let him test the market. Someone remind me of Ziggy's status because I am drawing a blank. I would actually be ok with Cam and Ziggy starting as ends for the Steelers. Ziggy is not great but you can't upgrade every position at once. He is servicable and can slip inside in a pinch. If da beard wants to pull and Ike with us that would be awesome. Kiesel was a pretty fair pass rusher before he was a full time starter. Maybe with more snaps off Kiesel to give us a little more pressure on passing downs.

I agree but I'm feeling they may go for A. Donald or Nix. The pickup of Mitchell and good CB's in the later rounds may turn the ship.

I'd say so too. People have been down on Nix for "suffering a drop-off in 2013," but the guy was playing through an injury the entire season that ended up requiring surgery. Of course he had a drop-off.

It sucks to see Woods go, but so far it seems the going rate for any free agent who can walk is about $8M-$9M a season, so there's not much we could do about it.

Hell, I could probably get at least $6M as a free agent in this climate the way teams are throwing money away. I'd better get an agent.

McClendon did this in 2012. He shopped around and then the Steelers signed him. I'm not a McClendon fan at NT. I think he's more of a DE in 3-4 but my last name isn't LeBeau or Mitchell.

There isnt a 3-4 defensive end that warrants the #15 pick. If we trade down to the end of the first, Tuitt and Hageman are possibilities. I have Tuitt ranked higher then Hageman....in fact I think he grades out higher than Heyward did when he was drafted

I know this is only going to make it sting more but it needs to be said ....

the steelers started the season at 2-6 Woods had a total of 54 defensive snaps ...

the steelers ended the season with a run of 6-2 Woods had a total of 168 defensive snaps .....

there is cleansing the stench that got you started 2-6 and there is throwing away part of the reason you rebounded at 6-2 ... this is classic example of the latter over 2.5 million a year which you are going to have to spend anyways and probably get a lesser player for it

The post I was referring to was about Revis...who is not nor has ever been a part of the Steelers organization. In regards to the Cardinals signing Dwyer...we just ask that everyone please take the time to see if something has been posted already.

Dwyer was a Steeler and my thread was about him so I put my post here in Steelers Talk. It's pretty confusing for me (and I'm sure others) why it has to go under the Around The NFL forum only.

Hopefully Kiesel if it's a choice between that pair. At least he's still somewhat effective and could teach a few tricks to whoever is the successor. If we keep Hood, all he can teach a rookie is how to get shoved around and taken out of the play.
