Last season, Caroll started 12 of 16 games for the Dolphins, making 47 tackles and intercepting three passes, adding two sacks to the mix as well. He also had a career-high 11 pass deflections in just over 800 snaps.

In 90 targets, he allowed 43 catches for 640 total yards, according to Pro Football Focus, giving up two touchdowns for a quarterback rating when targeted of 65. He is also an efficient tackler missing only three tackles during the year.

Sounds like a classic under the radar, but effective Steelers pick up to me...

I would be a fan of such a signing because I think Verner would be a colossal failure if we shelled out the cash necessary to sign him. This guy seems to spell Steelers way. But I don't know much about him. I seem to remember his name coming up when we played against Miami last year but I don't recall if it was good or bad.

It is amazing how different outlets can take the same stats and come up with vastly different capsulses on a player:

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5919/nolan-carroll

"Carroll would be a weak add as a No. 2 or 3 corner opposite Ike Taylor, who is expected to take a pay cut and stick in Pittsburgh. Carroll started 12 games for the Dolphins last season, routinely getting roasted in coverage"

So is Carroll any good or not?

Nolan had injuries all thoughout the year...knee...concussion...ribs. Last year isnt a fair conclusion as to what kind of player he is, except that he played through the injuries.

Hard to argue with a completion percentage less than 50% and a QB rating of 65. Try to sign him if the price is right and there is enough salary cap space

Not a lot of talk about Captain Munnerlyn, but if he would have been on our team last year...he would have been the best CB on the team. I'm still holding out hope for Verner, but would be more than pleased to land Munnerlyn. With him and Allen on both sides we wouldn't have any "superstars", but would field two CB's that teams would have to be careful with.

I like Munnerlyn the best of the two , has good ball skills and we sorely have been lacking that in the secondary

Agreed ...better skills. Just concerned with that height.

Munnerlyn is also a return man isnt he or are the Steelers set on AB to handle it

Actually I like the Thurmond idea, and hope we at least talk to him. He might not have gotten a lot of praise, but look at who he was playing with. Might not have gotten a fair chance where he was.
