So I figured I would ask all of the detailed draft folks that populate this place, what are your suggestions for some good (free) mock draft sites to follow? Seems like anyone and everyone starts posting them this time of year and I would like to separate the wheat from the chaff. Thanks in advance.

Scott does some nice work here http://draftcountdown.com/

then Curts spot here ( and you know Curt ) http://bleacherreport.com/users/2837772-curt-popejoy

CBS Blog http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/mock-draft

NFL.com always gives you a FOUR play http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/mock-drafts

but you are right anyone with a computer seems to find a way to get a mock online lots of sites that get a lot of clicks I give no credence to like Walter football but to each their own

I agree with Dwin...CBS sports is a great site. Other than that, find a sportswriter or personality that you trust and follow their thoughts. But keep in mind...its a very inexact science.

Something that I like to do is NOT look at the person predicted to be drafted by a specific team, but rather the position. Then I make my own draft board based on games I have seen, bowl appearances, senior bowls, and trusted writers. I make a list of all 32 team needs and slowly take one team at a time to create my own mock draft. Keep in mind that you will have to do a little homeowrk to understand each teams offensive and defensive schemes.

drafttek.com

updates risers and fallers weekly

has positional rankings, can be seperated by conference

also has Input on team needs with base defenses

Steelers seemed spot on with WR(Feature) and FS on Def

I use CBS Sports more that any other. Their Mock Drafts are a little iffy, IMO, but their players rankings, and the players break down are very good. They help me as far as what to look for in a kid, and gives me more to think about on each player.

I know your choice would be to trade down, but what do you think of those picks, Dwins?

Kelvin Benjamin (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/mock-drafts/daniel-jeremiah/175601/?pickId=2543471) 15 is IMO nearly a full round early for him but you just can not teach that size and athletic ability he might end up being one hell of a WR in this league and perhaps the best of the draft but he also could end up being the next Mike Williams and that scares the hell out of meDarqueze Dennard (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/mock-drafts/bucky-brooks/175600/?pickId=2543474) I am not a big fan , he is talented and if thought of as a late first to early second round guy I would be on board I know LLT thinks differently and I respect that but for me he is going to be over drafted due to the lack of top tier talent at CB early in this draft but that is my opinion others may see it differently

C.J. Mosley (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/mock-drafts/charles-davis/175603/?pickId=2543464) I like him , perhaps a tad early but I think he will be a solid pro and have a long career if he avoids major injuries .... he is not a sure thing / can't miss prospect but who is but he has the skill set and talent to be a productive pro

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/mock-drafts/matt-smith/175604/?pickId=2543470) of the 4 guys they selected this is the kid the has the most upside , the highest ceiling and probably the most talent the only knock I have on him is just 1 year of outstanding production and that is the only reason he could fall to 15 I can come up with

Thanks Dwins!

no problem but keep in mind S is not normally a high demand pos in the 1st round and most teams shy away from taking them high , that has started to change but its a slow process ...

as much talent as Dix has I still question if I take him at 15 when I am almost certain I could get Pryor at 2-15 if I so desired or maybe even Bailey later on and not a ton of difference in the 3 when you consider what you are spending to get them ( and I like Ladler in the 4th as well I might add ) ...its all a puzzle what pieces do you put the priority tag on ? answer that and you solved the puzzle :)

Looking at that draft the teams picking between 26 - 32 seem to almost be better off than those above ( for position of need and value)

I think the top 32 is going to be reset in a big way after the combine

I agree. I like how they break down the player's strengths and weaknesses while also giving the reader up to date information on the person.

the secret is out on Baptiste he is climbing draft boards everywhere , why am I not surprised at this ?

2 months ago he had late 4th to 5th round stock , today he is chiming in in the second round and we have not even got to the combine yet where most risers take off at ........

its a shame they can't do their own leg work lol

we have been on these guys for awhile and they are for whatever reason just now catching on , we have a few hours at best a day to go over tape , they are paid to do it .... so have far more time to look over the same pool of players to make evaluations ...sad really

I got to wonder how much of this is because of Shermans success. He's darn near a Sherman clone.
