On an afternoon when Antonio Brown (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/antonio-brown/859114e9-d70b-477b-8eaf-6f34bb1ffc03/) and Le’Veon Bell were setting records for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Lawrence Timmons (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/lawrence-timmons/afc86dd7-633e-4e37-a4da-5f089a96b666/) was doing a bunch of things to help them win the final regular season game of their 2013 season.

It was a game in which the Steelers defense stymied the Browns offense until garbage time, and Timmons was all over the Heinz Field grass making plays. He finished with eight tackles, including one for loss, he added a sack and defensed a pass, and his interception in the final minute iced the outcome that was a 20-7 victory over Cleveland.

Lawrence Timmons is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were both record-setters: Brown and Bell. With nine catches for 87 yards, Brown became the first player in NFL history to have at least five receptions and at least 50 receiving yards in every game of a 16-game regular season. With 96 yards from scrimmage, Bell broke Franco Harris’ rookie record for yards from scrimmage in a season, with 1,259.

In addition, Jarvis Jones (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/jarvis-jones/92ceebdf-6088-4872-abf0-69a36014c8d2/) contributed nine tackles, including one for loss, and added a pass defensed; Brett Keisel (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/brett-keisel/e07c42f5-62cd-4b07-828f-1d192885b0c0/) had three tackles, plus a strip/sack that was recovered by Chris Carter (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/chris-carter/298a3217-156c-47b2-bc9f-550abc0a810b/); and Cam Heyward had three tackles, including two for loss, plus a sack and two hits on the quarterback.

Timmons played very well this year and stayed pretty healthy.

Did you ever notice that Timmons makes tackles and breaks up plays routinely and never dances or calls attention to himself? He simply goes out and executes at a high level. Reminds me of the 1970s team.

All that doesn't bother me.

I like seeing our players showing enthusiasm and fire. And if they don't, that's ok , too.

i actually wish we had a firebrand on the defense. particularly from the quarterback of our defense in lawrence timmons, but we all know thats not gonna happen. hopefully it comes from someone. its been a while since this defense has had a rah-rah attitude. and it could use it more than ever

Any big mouth on the Steelers defense will be a target of Goodell and fined into oblivion until he goes to another team.
