Troy Polamalu doesn't want to think about this possibly being his last game with the Steelers (http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/).

“I don't know,” the seven-time Pro Bowl safety said Thursday about his future in Pittsburgh. “My intention is to play on Sunday, and we'll see what happens from there on.”

Might he retire, if he doesn't like the direction the Steelers are headed following what, at best, will be a second successive 8-8 season?

“I don't know,” Polamalu said. “I really don't know. ... The chips will land wherever they may after this game, and we'll see.

“I want to play this game as long and as good as I can play it. Whenever that (retirement) time comes, it will come. I'm not sure when it will come, though.” ...........

Would like one of those "old" guys back....and Troy is still viable.

Doesn't seem as if Troy's into giving anything back on his contract. I hope he doesn't make the same mistake that Harrison did and cut off his nose to spite his face over a matter of pride. If the Steelers offer him close to 5 million he wont get better than that elsewhere.

As much as I like Troy, we gave up a lot of big plays this year, and it seems like many had a lot to do with Troy not being where he was expected to be or just missing the tackle.

I guess it's hard to judge because sometimes he was playing linebacker, sometimes safety.

You can also make a case that without Troy everyone else is more structured and maybe that plays to our favor?

He did cause 5 fumbles and 2 interceptions. And his gambling does pay off sometimes.

Troy is really hard for me to gauge. In fact outside of the Steelers defensive players and coaches I don't think anyone can accuratety assess what his value was this year? And what it could be next year?

I don't think he's a 10 million dollar a year player anymore. But are they willing to tell him that, and will he accept it if they do?

if possible, i would want troy back for one more season on a lower salary. we need to maintain some stability at safety as the new faces come in. We know shamarko is going to be one of them, we dont know how he'll do but we are obviously riding on him to do well. As for that second spot, troy and will allen for a year should suffice. We need to draft safety this season or next season for sure though. Preferably this season with how long it takes most of the kids to take to the system
