It’s one of the oldest tricks in the motivational playbook.

Want you give your team some incentive? Simply recite the “They don’t respect us” theme.

It’s exactly what Ryan Clark is doing as the Steelers (5-8), all but mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, take on the Cincinnati Bengals (9-4) Sunday at Heinz Field. The Bengals can lock up the AFC North with a win and a Ravens loss, while a Steelers win would mean only that they still have a chance to avoid their first losing season in 10 years.

Clark believes these Bengals, with a cast largely assembled in the last few seasons, don’t really respect or worry the Steelers all that much.

Maybe it’s because the Bengals – headed to the playoffs for a third consecutive season – have reversed a trend that saw them dominated by the Steelers for a decade.........

Shut the front door, Ryan Clark, after you exit the facility.

Send them one of Ziggy's youtube training videos, that will make them respect and fear the Steelers.

This team just gets even more of a fucking joke each day.

Why should they respect us right now? They're the ones going to the playoffs for the 3rd straight season, not us.

Pulling for the Black and Gold this Sunday! Be nice to know Cincy lost before MNF. Ravens probably won't catch the Bengals for tbe AFCN crown, but a Bungles loss Sunday would not hurt!

So.....good luck!

Who would respect a 5-8 team with a crappy defense. Maybe Clark should cover someone before running his mouth

Clark is just garnering attention to himself for his BSPN audition. 5-8 shouldn't cause any concern to other teams

I think the Steelers likely win this one believe it or not. But shut up Clark, you're having the worst season of your career as a Steeler. There is a difference between the Bengals "respecting" you and thinking you're a shitty player. If they believe the latter, they aren't wrong right now.

Nobody respects the Steelers this season, from the poor play on all sides of the ball to the sideline nonsense to now grabbing crotches. We have turned into the Cleveland Raiders.

I know nfl.com gave the Bengals "A"s for their drafts the last two years.

Not sure on 2011.

Regardless, looks like they are building a solid, young and hungry team through the draft...must be nice.

Ryan Clark sounds like Chad Johnson running his mouth like that. He is talking awfully lot for a guy who is having a poor year.

Respect comes from winning, not talking. For the past 2 seasons, our words have been hallow. When you win, you don't have to talk.

Here's to a productive off season and someone solving the puzzle of how to keep our O Line healthy. Both of our lines need to win the physical battles for us to be the Steelers. Right now, DeCastro and Hewyard are the foundations to build on. I'll take Velasco at Centre and Pouncey (contract pending) at LG. Adams at RT and a stud LT from this years draft. Beachum, Gilbert and Foster as subs.

Wonder if they "respect" us this morning?
