Da'Rick Rogers
Tavarras King
Tony Jefferson
Kevin Reddick

Now one of those please

Da'Rick Rogers 6 catches 107 yards and 2 Tds in his colts debut today , what have we got from Wheaton thus far again ?

Jefferson is a starter .... Rogers is now a starter .... Kevin Reddick is getting playing time for the Saints

what have we gotten from our later round guys ? NOTHING

Rogers was cut by two teams so he's obviously got major issues. We don't need a head case on this team.

Colbert and Tomlin were considered to be some of the leagues best at their respective jobas...while we were winning. And we were winning with veteran players that were willing to work their asses off to win championships.

These guys are mostly gone...and in their places we have young guys that just assumed that when they were drafted by Pittsburgh, big shiney rings would magically appear on their fingers. It's not Tomlin or Colbert's fault "that they are not ready to play the games". These are grown ass men that shouldn't need other grown ass men to motivate them. Tomlin had them ready just fine when Farrior, Aaron Smith, Hines and James Harrison were there. Nobody had to tell those men how to get ready for games.

less talented players than in many cases we left more talented ones still on the draft board ....

coaching only gets you so far even with the best possible coaching you still more often than not win and lose based on talent

like Holmes , Njah " i'll shit in your stuff" Davenport , etc etc .....

team win all the time with " less than perfect " mental status of a few players that why you have a strong locker room to handle those things , we seemingly do not have that either

Or maybe good coaching puts talent in situations where it can shine.

occasionally but they say the cream rises to the top for a reason ... cause it does ...

great players find ways to make great plays when it matters most , we do not have many of those sort of players and its glaringly obvious

We are plenty talented enough to win, there are teams winning right now with far less talent than we have.

You're really reaching with Rodgers. No one in the NFL wanted him. Indy only signed him because of all their injuries at WR. He was known to have many issues coming out of college and that's why teams stayed away. After the issues with Rainey and Ta'amu there's no way that the Steelers would have touched him.

I've got as many complaints about our recent draft picks as anyone but Rodgers is not an example of a screwup.

subjective at best , you are what your records says you are ...

at the end of the day as in the OP those guys are doing more for their teams than what anybody from our 2013 draft has done for us from Day 3 on ...

those are facts that can not be argued and I am no where near an NFL GM and could see that plain as the nose on my face and it is not hindsight because it was stated prior to us selecting and prior to any of them taking the field in the NFL

just how many of those guys are better than the OP guys ? not many ( if any ) and most are out of the league or on practice squads someplace

we got 3 players out of 17 selections ( potentially 4 if Wheaton develops ) but as of today 3 players who have proven to be as good as the guys in the OP who I ( not a NFL GM ) a hobbyist draft enthusiast was able to target yet our FO could not

Drafting has been about as good as coaching. You need at least a few thoroughbreds among the mules to win races.

Drafting has been about as good as coaching. You need at least a few thoroughbreds among the mules to win races.

its the primary ingredient ( the draft ) when the team does very little in the Free agent market place , you can't polish a turd and if you draft more turds than anything else its pretty tough to coach them up enough to make a difference , now believe me this is not in defense of the poor coaching because that is another debate and one that IMO compounds the problem
