This site has been optimized for Netscape 3.0 or above (http://home.netscape.com/comprod/mirror/client_download.html) and Internet Explorer 4.0 and above (http://www.microsoft.com/ie/download/). :chuckle:

I wonder how long the "3riversstadium.com" domain name was purchased for(?)

EDIT: Ah, they purchased it for 20 years (expiration in bold red below in the WHOIS info).

I'd imagine the site itself is sitting on some ancient (and probably forgotten) Sun server in the data center somewhere of the "H2 Design Group." Those old UNIX boxes literally never crap out. And considering how downright primitive the site is and that it probably never really gets any traffic anymore, there is probably next to no drain on resources that would tip somebody off to shut it down - it's obviously not gotten any attention from a development or administrative standpoint in quite a few years. I'd also imagine that the Pittsburgh Stadium Authority probably forgot all about killing the site when Three Rivers was demolished as well.

Very cool find, Borski - it's almost like astronomers checking out the edges of the universe to see how things looked when time began.

I am so thankful to say that I got to attend a Steeler game at TRS during the final season. The Raiders game that we won by 1 pt (thanks to Kordell Stewart) :chuckle:

Funniest thing on the site:

Somewhere in that site may be the real answer to if the ball touched the ground before Franco caught it.

(shhhhh...don't tell Silver and Black) :chuckle:

The Netscape and Internet Explorer part cracked me up too. :chuckle: I think that this was a pretty neat find on the web. I never went to any Steelers games there, but I was able to go to a couple of Pirates games. The first game was at night and they lost. The second game I went to was a day game and the Pirates won. I was only a kid back then, but a couple of things stick out for me. I remember during that second Pirates game, a guy was sitting by himself passed out near the scoreboard. The camera crew kept showing him passed out on the scoreboard and everyone would laugh at this guy. :chuckle: I also remember walking up towards the seats and seeing things drawn on the stadium's columns. One drawing was a thin peace sign in what seemed to be black chalk. I still have a video of the demolition my aunt and uncle filmed for my parents and I.

Yeah, we have Sun boxes at work that are still running strong that were around when I first started at CMU...13 years ago. Quite possibly the best and most reliable systems I have ever seen. I agree - nice find, though now that it's been discovered again, how long until they finally kill the site when they notice a spike in traffic on that server?

I lived out of state and my parents were never into sports so I didn't really have any interest in them either. It wasn't until my Sister and her Boyfriend (later husband) took me there see my first baseball game at 3R. If I recall correctly we beat the Astros 5-3 and the Pirates became my favorite team, later on I also fell in love with the Steelers and all things Pittsburgh. I saw one other game there before they tore it down.

If it hasn't already been, you should upload it to youtube, might provide a new perspective of the demolition.
