this I like

Had him in my 2013 mock as one of our UDFA

I am taking a gamble here that Jones will be on the board at 17 , if he is not my entire mock is screwed because Jones is the only guy at the pos we would consider at 17 and we probably would not venture to take someone else to play OLB until round 3 ( meaning that will be messed up for me as well ) but I have a feeling he may be there and if he is its a home run IMO

1) Jarvis Jones OLB

2) Robert Woods WR

3) Christian Michael RB

4) Shamarko Thomas S

5) Tavarres King WR

6) Malliciah Goodman DE/DT

6b) Luke Marquardt OT

7) Ryan Griffin QB

UDFAs

Ray Graham RB
Rodney Smith WR
Chris Jacobson G
Marquis Jackson OLB

I really like this move . One of the only college players I really liked and then he got injured . Hopefully he can prove that he is worth a spot on the team .

Graham was a stud when he played for Pitt. His last injury really set him back. Shame.
Hopefully he gets a chance to show he can contribute. He deserves a shot, especially
back in The Burgh.

The Steelers did not sign Ray Graham to remain on their practice squad and the rookie halfback from Pitt did not sign with the Steelers to remain on their practice squad.

He was on the 53-man roster in Houston for two weeks before the Texans released him to make room for Ricky Sapp from the New York Jets on Friday. Graham said the Texans told him they planned to sign him back to their practice squad.

Enter the Steelers. They told Graham once he picked up their offense, perhaps in a week or two, they’d sign him to their 53-man roster. It was good enough for Graham to leave the familiar offense of the Texans, who actually had put him on their 53-man roster and two bigger paychecks.

The logical target for replacement when they do add Graham would be Felix Jones. He’s done little in his time here with 36 rushing attempts for 128 yards (3.6), no touchdowns and eight receptions for 59 yards. He’s returned 15 kickoffs for an average of 23.5.

Graham, who is only 5-9 and 194, had a signature game last season when he ran for 172 yards and one touchdown on 24 tries in the Panthers’ near upset at Notre Dame.

He also comes cheaper than Jones, which would not be a real reason for the move. The surprising thing is that the Steelers did not try to sign him after he went undrafted this year.

Wasn't Redman already released?

It would be nice to see him do well in Pittsburgh....or any running back for that matter.

sigh.

At 194 pounds he better be greased lightning fast.

but he is just 5'9" so he is a compacted 194 , guessing that is about as bulky as a guy 6' 225-230 or something close

Wasn't Willie Parker 5-9 and 210 pounds or something? That's pretty bulky for a guy that size, but a slight breeze was enough to bring him down. It all depends on how you run.

With that in mind, scat backs don't seem to do very well in our offense and with our offensive line issues, unless there's also a fat back. Then they both do better. As long as we don't insist on using only one of them ever. Which thankfully we seem to have gotten over.

Jones Drew is 5'7" and 210 and he once had speed to burn.

Ray Rice is 5'9" and 195 - the closest comparison I could find. But was fast and quick coming out of college. (http://nflcombineresults.com/playerpage.php?i=8049)

Sproles is 5"6" and around 180. So I guess it is possible, but again he is fast and quick (http://nflcombineresults.com/playerpage.php?f=Darren&l=Sproles&i=7261)

Grahamn, not so much (http://nflcombineresults.com/playerpage.php?f=Ray&l=Graham&i=10212). Granted I believe he ran faster at his Pro Day (I've seen between 4.68 and 4.71 reported). I know 40 times are not the end all be all, but I do not see the measureables that indicate explosiveness and with his size, he isn't going to run up the middle.

But I really don't know. Just was my first reaction. It isn't like this team has really found a good change of pace back anyways.
