The NFL’s leading receiver was on display today at Heinz Field, and he had himself a very productive afternoon. And just to be clear, the NFL’s leading receiver does not wear a Detroit Lions uniform.

“We’ve got a big time wideout of our own,” said Coach Mike Tomlin. “Not a lot was written and said about him, of course, leading up to the game. But we think he is capable of affecting the outcome of games, much like their guy.”

Antonio Brown (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/antonio-brown/859114e9-d70b-477b-8eaf-6f34bb1ffc03/) came into this weekend’s action with 67 catches, two more than A.J. Green of the Cincinnati Bengals, and what he did against the Lions certainly did little to tarnish his status. Brown caught seven passes for 147 yards (21.0 average), and included in those were touchdowns of 34 and 47 yards. On the 34-yard touchdown, Brown broke a couple of tackles to get into the end zone, and on the 47-yard score he out-ran two different Detroit defensive backs to get across the goal line.

Antonio Brown is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were David DeCastro (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/david-decastro/77df3eb5-6638-4fa8-88a0-74a43a25a457/), and if it’s unusual for a guard to be mentioned so prominently here, it’s also unusual for Ndamukong Suh to go an entire game without marking, i.e., no tackles, no assists, no sacks, no pressures, and DeCastro was handling him one-on-one for most of the game; Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/ben-roethlisberger/54dda34e-9e43-4c57-9397-1143ddced5d6/), who operated out of the no-huddle throughout the afternoon and completed 29-of-45 for 367 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions; Will Allen (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/will-allen/12e7d31e-6126-4194-b4cf-71d15fa45f6b/), who had nine tackles and had a hand in two takeaways by recording an interception and forcing a fumble that Lawrence Timmons (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/lawrence-timmons/afc86dd7-633e-4e37-a4da-5f089a96b666/) recovered; Jason Worilds (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/jason-worilds/5c613eee-74dc-496d-85ff-b2dfb90b0b14/), who had seven tackles, including one for loss, plus a sack and four hits on the quarterback; and Cameron Heyward (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/cameron-heyward/31ae66ad-4d81-46b6-8598-fe151186afd7/), who had six tackles and two passes defensed.

no way. ben deserves it. brown had an outstanding game but could have been better, dropping another TD in the endzone. And after reading that bolded print about decastro, WOW, maybe decastro deserves it over brown as well. didnt even notice that with whimper getting raped by fairley on the other side of the o-line

The no-huddle takes a lot of pressure off the OL. Makes a below average line look at least serviceable. Also, the Lions obviously did not prepare for it if we scored a season high points. Our DBs did their homework and recognized some familiar plays which enabled at least one TO.

Take out the second quarter and they look like a playoff capable team. Still not ready, but making strides. Could be too big of a hole to climb out of. Give the other guys a chance to fill in for the injured and you really got one of the best halves of football played all season.

Agreed. I don't know how anyone could give it to Brown over Ben.

If you want to take ABs TD drop as a knock against him then Ben's bad throw into end zone on a sure TD cancels it out between them. Other than that AB was beyond money. Ben had a great game but he made a few more bad throws than that and he got lucky on a couple of should be picks. AB had so much YAC on short passes it's crazy. He was a one man machine. Easily player of the game.

Brilliant minds can disagree, but rewatch the game, forget the stat sheet. Watch what AB does. Watch him shed tackles and make things happen all by himself. If I just looked at the stat sheet I'd give it to Ben too. (Not saying you are doing that. I know you watched it. It was more a general statement.)

AB had a great first half but was mostly invisible in the second half. Ben had a great game and was the one that lead them to the win.

Jason Worilds, who had seven tackles, including one for loss, plus a sack and four hits on the quarterback

Once again Worilds makes Woodley's absence mean nothing. Cutting Woodley after June 1st would result in some dead money($5,590,000), but you also gain $8,000,000 in cap room.

Also, Wallace who?

Worilds on the left is an impact player. Worilds on the right is meh.
Adams at RT is more than capable. Adams at LT is in a fog.

Coaches, don't screw up the obvious. Take 2 potential very good contributors and make them also rans.

It seems so obvious to us but the coaches don't seem to see it for some reason.

Steelers Digest got it wrong. Ben was clearly the player of the game. 96 yard drive for the go ahead touchdown, Ben was in part responsible for all but 4 of those yards by his arm and legs. Then the 20 yard touchdown to Cotchery to seal the deal. That's where the game was won, that's why Ben and only Ben is the sensible choice for player of the week.

Every time I have seen Worilds on the left side, he is vastly better than on the right side. Go back and watch the tapes when Woodley was injured in the last 2 years. Worilds is more than an adequate replacement for Woodley. He disappears when he plays on the right side. I even suggested about 1 1/2 years ago that they keep Worilds on the left and try Woodley inside.

Adams on the left is a disaster. Good for at least 2 sacks or heavy pressure. On the right side, he is more than adequate and better than Gilbert.
