Today was the day linebacker Sean Spence has waited over a year for, the chance to finally get back on the football field with his teammates.

I would put him on IR and get him ready for next season

lets spare him the risk of more career threatening surgery in whats most likely a lost season

I agree. Let him practice with the two weeks he has left (I believe?) then put him on IR, have him ready to compete with Williams/find a role next year.

I understand what you guys are saying and why, but I disagree. Obviously we should never rush him back or in any way put him in harm's way, but I think that even if he doesn't ever dress for a game this year letting him practice with the team is huge. Not only will it help him be that much less of a rookie when the time does come from a practical standpoint, but mentally I think I think it's very important to let him feel all the more like he's part of this team, practicing side by side with his teammates. He's a great kid with a great attitude. The more that fire can be fueled, the better.

I think Spence practicing with the team is huge also, but it seems per NFL rules he has 3 weeks to do this, then the Steelers must decide to activate, IR or wave him. I would IR him at this time.

we still do not know what we have with Spence , the more reps he can get the better so they know moving forward if it is still an area of need or not .... I am with Hollywood on this practice him if he is physically capable of doing so , no need to rush him back or even activate him at this time but the more reps he gets the better for him and for the team to figure out what they have or do not have in him .... we do have 2 more weeks to decide but even then if he is healthy enough keep him on the active roster even if he does not see any play time on Sundays

Wexell tweeted Spence may have broken a finger. Can't post link on my phone.

This poor dude has to be the most snakebit guy in all of football. Except for that USC guy with the fake rape case. It's too bad, because if this season continues down the same path it started on, it would've been a great opportunity to take a look at young players.

honestly dont think a broken finger changes much for Spence. its not like he was going to be suiting up and contributing in 3 weeks

Well, it might make it harder for him to flip people off.

Ok, so what is his status as of right now ?

A decision was "supposed" to be made this week on him.

the call is very obvious imo. stick him on IR unless he is absolutely 100% healthy. doubt it. not worth it. not in a lost season

I agree. Let him continue to rehab and try to get ready for next year.

Good. Heal up kid. God knows we need you to next season.
