It was an imperfect performance by the Steelers against the New York Jets, albeit one that was good enough to produce a victory. So too was it a series of imperfect performances by many of the Steelers who contributed so significantly to the win.

Antonio Brown (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/antonio-brown/859114e9-d70b-477b-8eaf-6f34bb1ffc03/) caught nine passes for 86 yards and completed one for 15 more, but he dropped a would-be touchdown pass in the end zone. Emmanuel Sanders (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/emmanuel-sanders/8dbfd17f-3e27-497e-a7ce-4462b4467a6f/) caught a touchdown pass, but he fumbled – yet recovered – in a critical stage of the fourth quarter. Ryan Clark (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/ryan-clark/cf65ed11-5ecb-4e40-9341-ff499509537d/) led the team with eight tackles, and his interception was the team’s first takeaway of the season, but he dropped another would-be interception that hit him right in the chest. Kelvin Beachum (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/kelvin-beachum/34c3bd3d-5e55-42a0-a7dd-09f77f5b70b5/) gave the Steelers their best all-around game at left tackle all season, but he was flagged twice for holding.

And so, the Steelers Digest Player of the Week is Lawrence Timmons (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/lawrence-timmons/afc86dd7-633e-4e37-a4da-5f089a96b666/), who had six tackles, made several big hits, and made the interception at the Steelers’ 2-yard line late in the fourth quarter that went a long way toward icing the team’s first win of the season.

Also considered were Brown, Sanders, Clark, Beachum, Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/ben-roethlisberger/54dda34e-9e43-4c57-9397-1143ddced5d6/), who completed 23-of-30 for 264 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions; Cam Heyward, who had two tackles and some decent pressure on the passer in his first start of the season; and Shaun Suisham (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/shaun-suisham/1375892d-6f3e-462a-b784-4c6cd6bce2b2/), who was 4-for-4 in field goals but did have one of his kickoffs go out of bounds.

Ben would get my player of the game. He was a great player and leader, behind an O-line that would terrify mortal men.

Ben was playing like a grown man among an OL comprised of kids.
