Bill Polian, a six-time NFL executive of the year, recently saw one of the greatest quarterbacking performances he's witnessed during more than a half-century of football watching.

He called it “phenomenal” and “unbelievable.”

Peyton Manning's seven touchdown passes on the NFL's opening night?

No, an under-siege Ben Roethlisberger's play as he nearly rallied the Steelers (http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/) from a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter during their 34-27 loss to the Vikings in London last Sunday........

That was a good read. I thought Ben was exceptional. His only mistake I thought was the interception. I thought he had yards and yards to run into (from where I was sitting ) but hindsight is a wonderful thing .

Good chance that interception was due to a mis-communication between Ben and Sanders. Ben expected Sanders to be where the ball ended up.

My only problem with Ben that game was his red zone play. A couple times on early downs he missed open receivers where a completion would have given them a much more favorable 2nd or 3rd down play. Of course he was being rushed into that poor pass by a crumbling pocket each time. But we've seen Ben do better and overcome that before. I thought he had a good game. But not one for the ages. But hey I haven't really sat down and rewatched the game, and Poilan's forgot more than I'll ever know about the NFL. So I'll defer to him and accept that Ben's play was very good that game.
