LATROBE, Pa. – This is what Steelers President Art Rooney II was referring to all along when he said following the end of a disappointing 2009 season that he believed the team needed to be able to run the ball more effectively.

As in, run the ball more effectively in situations such as short-yardage and goal-line. Those situations were the highlight of Sunday’s afternoon practice at Saint Vincent College, and Rooney had to like what he saw.

The Steelers ran four live plays, which means tackling to the ground was included, in a short-yardage period where the down-and-distance was always third-and-1. The offense was 4-for-4 in converting those situations, with Isaac Redmanhttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/isaac-redman/5250dc8c-d3c1-4001-9e55-b6c6d991bb84/) getting the yardage on the first two plays, with Dennis Dixonhttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/dennis-dixon/dbf2567c-8426-4606-903f-a6537a26c65c/) rolling out and hitting Mewelde Moorehttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/mewelde-moore/a971937b-8bca-4747-a9f4-88706292e800/) with a pass on the third, and with Jonathan Dwyerhttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/jonathan-dwyer/5bfae686-9098-4bb3-85aa-bfd8c720d223/) plunging for 2 yards before taking a big hit from safety Da’Mon Cromartie-Smith on the fourth...........

Sounds like our offense could be getting better at short yardage/goal line situations. Keep it up BIG O!!!

Doing it in drills is one thing, doing it in actual games is another.

I hope you're right on this but like '76 said, drills are different from games. Luckilly we get to see in less than a week!!! :tt03:

I just love that they are giving Legursky reps as a fullback.

I agree, but it has to happen on the practice field before it happens on the game field.
