The outside zone-blocking scheme was the answer to all of the Steelers (http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/)' running problems … in April.
Fast forward a few months and the scheme that was all the rave during the spring and summer has yet to make an appearance, and nobody quite knows why.

“That's probably a better question for (offensive coordinator) Todd (Haley) because he is the one calling the plays,” quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said.

Offensive linemen Ramon Foster and Marcus Gilbert also can't figure out why they have used the outside zone scheme only twice in 31 rushing attempts — one of which resulted in center Maurkice Pouncey being lost for the year with a knee injury — despite it being a point of emphasis through training camp..............

Exactly. We had problems and the zone blocking scheme doesn't seem to have solved them. So what IS the problem? Personnel? Lord, I hope that's not it (though it is at RB).

Hard to some your problems when you're not using it.

This team is an utter mess. Why would you spend your whole training camp practicing something and then not using it? No wonder the players look lost most of the time. Coach needs to step it up and take control of this train wreck

IMO, it's the personnel. RBs aren't the problem. There are no holes to run through.

5 words sum it up .....

it all starts up front

if you fail to control the LOS you will fail to execute your game plan regardless of personnel at the skill positions , sure you MIGHT have marginal success from time to time but consistency is a direct reflection of what happens in the trenches

This team is as organized as a hand grenade that went off in a bag of dog poop.
