I have an office pick'em and one of the teams (he's a liberal, go figure) picked this way last year.

He would pick straight down Vegas odds, then assign confidence points based on spread. I knew what he was doing in week 8 b/c he hadn't won a game and then he won a few in a row which raised a red flag. I started looking for a pattern and that is when I figured it out. If you remember, last year there were a LOT of upsets at the beginning of the year.

Anyway, b/c he won last year, he named his team "This Weeks Winning Picks (def champ)". Since I'm the commissioner, I send out the payout sheet and I put in the email body "This Weeks Winning Picks: <the winner>", just to yank his chain a bit. If he wins I'll change the verbiage, I'm rubbing it in that he didn't win.

Anyway, he sent me an email about having trademarked the term "This Weeks Winning Picks" so I want to remind him that he is in "MY" league and being in the league, the league itself has rights over all the teams.

I'd like to use the same verbiage that the NFL would use. If the NFL doesn't have this kind of control over the teams then I'll change it around. This is all in fun.

Does anyone know of such a disclaimer?

Personally, I would just go over there and give him a quick backhand slap in the nuts.

you could also consider using something like online games have been using for years ( End users licencing agreement or EULA for short )

you buy their game , you pay a monthly service charge to then play said game , however you own nothing including your own characters ... you only have the right to play the game as long as you pay for it ...

you can not sell the account on ebay or anywhere else , its against the EULA ....

so since you are the commish he is " playing in your world "

but at the end of the day , I like steelreserve (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/forums/member.php/50-steelreserve) Idea smack him in the nuts
