The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Chuck Kobasew to a professional tryout contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
Kobasew’s addition brings the Penguins’ training camp roster to 55 players (31 forwards; 18 defensemen; 6 goaltenders). Click here for an updated camp roster (http://penguins.nhl.com/v2/ext/pdf/201314TrainingCampRoster.pdf).
Kobasew, 31, spent the previous two seasons playing for the Colorado Avalanche, totaling 23 points (12G-11A) in 95 regular-season contests. His plus-6 rating in 2012-13 ranked first among all Avalanche forwards.
The 6-foot, 192-pound Kobasew enjoyed his best NHL seasons with the Boston Bruins in 2007-08 and ’08-09, surpassing the 20-goal mark both years and establishing a career high with 42 points (21G-21A) in ’08-09.
