I looked at the replay a few times and it looks like he fell on top of the ball in his upper chest area. My guess would be ribs.

Hopefully nothing is broken.

Now we'll get all the co-dependents starting to call him INJURY PRONE. God I HATE that term! LOL!

The 4th game of the preseason is where most of the starters sit. The 1st and 2nd round "injury prone busts" should sit.

I'd like to see Grad, Landry, Felix, Sharknado, Heyward, Alvester Sylvester, Wheaties, Alameda Fangupo personally play more to see what they got.

its not just last night either .. its the entire preseason IMO ...

he has had a hand in 3 turnovers thus far , he is a play maker ....

sure there will be some growing pains during the learning process but his ability to make plays on the football will more than help make up for that IMO ( sounds like I am talking about a DB doesn't it ? ...strange how he has that effect )

Glad he's okay.

But Dwin, I have to say "No" to Jarvis starting at this point. From what I've seen, and granted, it's only been a little, He reminds me too much of Kendrell Bell right now in that he's able to flash and make some great plays, but he doesn't have the basics of the position down to play it game in and game out as a starter yet. Don't get me wrong, I'm not down on the kid. Not at all, and I don't think he's comparable to Bell overall, just in this specific instance because he's not learned the defense yet. I think he needs to learn more before he's ready. It's one thing to have growing pains, it's quite another to make a gamble on every play that could end up gaining 20, 40, or 60 yards because your LB isn't ready to play there game in and game out.

I'd rather take a OK every play, than a very good, but out of position on a third of the plays, because Dick LeBeau can gameplan for the first, the second is what kills defenses.

Good post, I think he is ok in passing situations but running plays to his side is where he gets caught taking some bad angles. I really do not like worlids at all so I am hoping jones figures out the defense asap and gets on the field because he has been a ball magnet so far and our defense desperately needs that.

after the season starts practice time as they now know it basically ends , if he does not get on the field NOW to learn chances are unless its because of injury he wont at all aside from situational football ...

that being said I think he offers more than anyone else we have in terms to upside and play making ability , like Troy he will gamble and it will cost you at times but over all you should reap more rewards than costs because of his athletic ability and ball awareness ... the more he plays the better he will get and the better the defense as a whole will get ...

will he start ? who knows , but I believe he should

Well the run defense angles and assignments is something you want to have nailed down in practice. I don't think he is far off at all and I think we will see him start for sure this season.

That's my thinking too. Like when Sandoobio and Cedrick Wilson split time. Eventually Sandoobio took over.

Jarvis Jones OK after having 'wind knocked out'

The rookie curse briefly looked like it could have struck the Pittsburgh Steelers once again on Saturday night when stud outside linebacker Jarvis Jones was strapped to a gurney and rushed to a hospital.

It turns out he suffered the same injury many grade school children will endure on the playground this fall: He had the wind knocked out of him, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"I got tackled from behind, fell on the ball, dude fell on me, knocked the air out of me," Jones said. "I don't know how many fell on top of me."

Jones, who will be held out of the Steelers' final preseason game, said team doctors decided to take him to the hospital to ensure there was no internal damage

Ok, Tomlin said in his Presser today that Jones has a sprained AC joint.

Jones, the rookie outside linebacker, will miss the game with a sprained AC joint in his chest. Tomlin didn't say how long Jones will be out.

The AC joint is part of the shoulder joints and has nothing to do with the chest area.

I actually see the opposite. Jones is a monster against the run. Much better than Worilds already. Great upper body strength and can get off blocks.

His pass rushing still needs work. Needs to get lower. He's constantly getting pushed up the arc because he isn't showing good enough bend. The times he's gotten pressure is coming off of stunts and having to get creative with him. Which you'll get a lot from LeBeau but that's more of the scheme working than it is pure talent.

Glad to hear that he's got some strength but I fear in my head I'm going to compare him to James Harrison for a while I don't think it's even close. Did you catch Hard Knocks last night? Harrison is a beast among men.

No he is good against the run but a few times I saw him either loop to wide on a running play or cut inside too early leaving the edge wide open. He is good against the run I just think he has to do a better job of recognizing run so he doesn't get caught out of position and we give up a long gainer.

Yeah, he's still learning, don't get me wrong. Far from a finished product in any aspect of his game.

It is worth keeping in mind that LBs will have gap responsibility that sometimes can make it seem like they're taking themselves out of the play but are really filling or sealing a gap. Worth keeping in mind.
