Hard to be on the hot seat after your first preseason game. I do find it very troubling and annoying that it appears as if the special teams has made no improvements at all

It's the gum I say. This pic is from August 5 and he was chewing the same gum tonight!!! :chuckle:

Somethings can't be helped especially some of the dumb mistakes by Gilreath as an example.

Keep in mind, there are people playing on special teams right now that won't be on the team in a few weeks. Lets not fire the guy after one preseason game.

And a lot of those guys were signed VERY recently as well.

For a second I thought you said gun, and I was like wow, that'd be some dedication to the game.

David Gilreath is probably going to show up with quite the limp tomorrow...

Every game there has been a bone headed ST breakdown. I think they need to hire a priest to do an exorcism on that office

I'm usually slow to call for somebody's head. And I didn't see the game last night. But fact remains, ST hasn't made it through a single preseason game without a serious hiccup. There's nothing worse than to be a good football team and be held back by ST.

Can't remember which year it was when Stonio and Colclough (i think) fumbled a slew of punts during the season. Pretty sure that cost us the playoffs that year. It was glaring enough to cite as the reason for missing out.

2006. Colclough muffed a punt against Cincy that cost the Steelers the game and ultimately a playoff spot.

And as far as the game last night, yeah, the blocked FG attempt was bad, but that whiffed tackle by Victorian that allowed the 100+ yard kickoff return was absolutely pathetic and NOT on Smith at all. Victorian should be forced to wear a skirt in practice all week for that.

The last time they were really good, as opposed to simply average or just downright bad? I'd have to say 1979. Larry Anderson in particular consistently came up big for us in the return game that entire season.
