It took three days of Miami Dolphins training camp before the first negative report about Mike Wallace came out. Perhaps the only surprise is that it took so long.
From the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Omar Kelly: "We're three days into training camp and the Mike Wallace factor hasn't been felt so far.
"Wallace hasn't roasted any cornerbacks deep.... YET. Without hitting we really can't tell his run-after-catch skills.....YET. And to be completely honest, Wallace doesn't have great chemistry with quarterback Ryan Tannehill....YET.
"That was evident the entire offseason."
It goes on from there, comparing Wallace unfavorably to Brandon Marshall's first days in Miami. Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes has regularly got the better of Wallace. Kelly says Wallace is only the "fourth or fifth" most impressive new Dolphin this offseason.
"Speaking of Grimes, the former Falcons' coverage of Wallace since OTAs either proves Grimes is back to his Pro Bowl status, or the Dolphins have paid way too much money for Wallace," Kelly writes

It's an article that pretty much saying to all the Dolphins fans that are panicking NOT to panic. Totally taken out of context and the Wallace haters are loving it.
There is a comparison to Marshall in that he also started slow with Miami in training camp...he wound up having a nice career with them while he was there and this is kind of what the writer is trying to get at...
Silly article on a slow news day, but totally taken out of context.

With big money comes big expectations - right away. The fans and media are not patient.
For example, if Jarvis Jones is made to look silly by a veteran in a drill next week, I fully expect a sizable contigent of the "Nation" to push the panic button :panic: and the "bust" and "wasted pick" labels to start getting thrown around.

not premature at all , he was paid a kings ransom he should in no way be the 4th or 5th most impressive addition at any point in time , that being said it would not matter if he was the most impressive they still over paid , he is not Megatron

I have a feeling that this Omar Kelly guy is going to be trashing Wallace a lot over the next few years
Miami is a rough sports town, especially with the Heat winning. The media was always hard on the Fins. They helped to run Shula and Marino into retirement.
Wallace will get his TDs, but it won't make a difference. They are going to the beach while the regular teams go to the playoffs.

Omar Kelly is probably just a pseudonym for Omar Kahn who is just mad Wallace wanted too much money.

J.Jones won't make the practice squad. He shall be Leveon Bell couldn't carry Jon Kuhn's jockstrap. Shamarko = Sharknado. Just say it now 2013 draft= 2008 draft. Arians should be f'n fired!!! :chuckle:

lol @ people wanting him to fail. arent we supposed to be rooting for him to do as well as possible so we get as high of a compensatory pick as possible?

His giant contract means that as long as he doesn't blow his knee out Week 1, we're likely to get a third rounder.

I'm not seeing that. :noidea: I think the prevailing sentiment in this thread is that criticism of Wallace 3 days into camp is jumping the gun a bit.
Personally, I couldn't care less about Wallace at this point.

Yeah, what the hell exactly do people think they're going to see after 3 days of training camp? It's TRAINING CAMP. Not a game or some place where they're supposed to be putting on a show.
That aside, I hope Wallace does terribly, partly to drive home the message about what happens when you give out idiot contracts, and partly just because saying I told you so is fun.

The plot thickens...
By Barry Jackson | Miami Herald
An upgraded Dolphins wide receiver unit continues to be beset by injuries, which has forced management to sign three players in the past four days.
At least four receivers have sustained injuries in camp, and Mike Wallace also stood on the sideline for all of team drills during Wednesday night’s practice, for reasons the team would not explain.
Wallace participated in individual drills and appeared to be moving normally. Coach Joe Philbin refused to discuss Wallace’s status or why he did not play in Monday’s scrimmage.

Mike Wallace has a groin injury, says it’s not serious
As Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace sat out practice today, the team was mum about the reason. But now Wallace has revealed that it’s the result of a minor groin injury.
Wallace confirmed to the Miami Herald that his groin injury is the reason he was held out of practice today, but Wallace said he’s hoping to play in Sunday’s Hall of Fame Game.
“It feels pretty good,” Wallace said. “I feel like it’s getting there.”
