Five of the Penguins’ top-6 players – Sidney Crosby (http://penguins.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8471675), Evgeni Malkin (http://penguins.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8471215), Chris Kunitz (http://penguins.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8470543), Pascal Dupuis (http://penguins.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8466393) and James Neal (http://penguins.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8471707) – are locked up for, at least, the next four years.

But the Penguins’ bottom-6 depth took a blow with the trade of Tyler Kennedy (http://penguins.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8471311) and free agent losses of Matt Cooke (http://penguins.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8465951) and Brenden Morrow (http://penguins.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8466160). The Penguins addressed that issue with the signing of forward Matt D’Agostini to a one-year, $550 thousand deal (http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=677485) on Wednesday afternoon.

“I’m very excited about joining a team like Pittsburgh,” D’Agostini said. “It’s an organization that’s proven itself, a team that’s constantly winning. I will do anything I can to contribute to that.”........

He put up pretty good numbers in STL, but was buried in their forward depth

a cheap Kennedy replacement - - just score a couple and don't look stupid

I don't mind this signing, but it seems like it's Ray Shero's mission to put together the softest team in the league. After Engelland and Glass, there is zero toughness on this squad and the 3rd line is a joke as far as that goes. Does he realize he will be sharing a division/conference/what the fuck ever with the Bruins, Leafs, Flyers, Habs (after trading for George Parros), Devils, Jackets (tough team with Jared Boll leading the way) and Sens? Even the Canes have some toughness with Kevin Westgarth and Tim Gleason.
