Does it seem like they're moving pretty fast? I wonder if they want to get through all these signings and figure out where they stand, so that they can actually sign some of our bigger names to contracts. Gotta wonder if the front office learned from last year as well.

6th round Draft pick Justin Brown was signed.
Earliery, Markus Weaton and Terry Hawthorne was signed, it was announced.

Picks typically come in bunches under the new CBA since there isn't much wiggle room in the amount of money that can be earned. Base salary and signing bonuses are pretty set in stone.

Yeah, rookie signings are not the big deal they used to be, since they're pretty much automatic now.

I do seem to remember that the signing bonus is the one place where they can negotiate. But the salary, incentives and number of years are fixed according to a formula, and since that's the case, the signing bonus is not going to move very much anyway.

the final year of rookie deals are the only real catch point nowadays where teams have the option of the length of the deal , other than that like has already been said the money is in thousands not hundreds of thousand and millions as in the past from middle round picks and beyond , first and second round guys are a little tougher but set parameters are still in place the wiggle room is just more

And that 4th/5th year option only applies for first round picks if memory serves. And that's not really a catch as it is just an option. Biggest things with first round contracts is determining which deals do or don't have offsets.
