The Steelers prefer to keep things in the family and that's what they did with several job announcements today.
Dan Colbert, son of general manager Kevin Colbert, and Mike Butler, son of Steelers Hall of Famer Jack Butler, were added to the scouting department. Butler, who began his NFL career as a scout with the Steelers in 1983, will serve as their BLESTO scout. Dan Colbert had been their scouting intern the past two years and will serve as a pro/college scout.

Phil Kreidler, who also started with the Steelers as a scouting intern and has held various scouting jobs......

Scouting is an awful job haha. These guys do the heavy lifting and generally don't get paid much to do it.

Although, I bet scouting for the Steelers is better than just about anywhere else. Most scouts never see their families and worry about job security 24/7. That shouldn't be the case with this team I'd imagine.

Now ain't that some shit. I never heard of such a thing. But there sure is a lot going on behind the scenes there. I feel I really learned something today.

Never heard of this ' BLESTO ' thing either. Damn, I too learned something new today and have some new bar talk to boot. :)

I think it's short for " blessed to " as in blessed to work for the Steeler organization . LOL !

That also explains why so many teams share the same view on players ... and how "draft gurus" get their information.

The entire process seems to just be a "going through the steps" type process. Which also explains the Ryan Leaf's / JeMarcus Russells of the world.
