By Brian McIntyre - Shutdown Corner
The New York Jets have informed quarterback Tim Tebow that he will be released, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
The Jets acquired Tebow on March 23, 2012 from the Denver Broncos, who had selected the 2007 Heisman trophy winner in the first-round of the 2010 NFL draft. Tebow's first season with the Jets was forgettable as he failed to unseat or even pressure Mark Sanchez for the starting job and played in just 6.8 percent of the Jets' offensive snaps, according to official playing-time documents.

Jets had granted Tim Tebow permission this off-season to seek a trade. More than one team asked if were willing to play TE, but he was not.

Exactly. He's bought into his own hype. He wants to be a quarterback.

If he doesn't want to just be another footnote in NFL history, he'd be wise to research Kordell Stewart's career. The dude simply isn't a QB.

If he wants to play qb, go to Canada, someone up there will most likely give him a chance.

times change - he'll clear waivers
I agree - he'd make a good H-back/TE
don't waste your life in Canada, son

The thing is, he won't change positions. O well, I'm just glad more people are starting to realize that he was never that great of quarterback to begin with.

I don't think he throws the ball well enough to succeed in the CFL

I dont know about tebow as a TE isnt he a little undersized for the position, we dont really know if he catch and wouldnt he have to block?

He's got the size to be one of those TE/FB hybrids, but I think he's already said "no" to playing TE.

If he were smart, he would be willing to change positions. He's not an NFL quarterback. It's a passing league, and he does not have the skills to start in the NFL at the position.
He's very athletic, and if he has decent hands he could start at TE for most NFL teams. But he bought his own hype and feels that because he's of legendary status in college football and at the University of Florida, that he should be given a starting QB job in the National Football League.
The fact that he lead the Broncos to an AFC West title and playoff win over the Steelers, and then the Broncos went after (and signed) Peyton Manning and were so eager to trade (and would have cut him if they had to) him says that they believe that he'll never be a competent NFL QB, even after learning from sitting behind one of the best to ever play the game.
He could become a very good NFL player if he changes positions, but his EGO won't let him.
