View Full Version : So I had the cops called on me today

There are really two parts to this thread.

Many folks may not know that there is a Congressional election happening in SC. Nikki Haley picked Tim Scott (first Republican Congressman from SC) to replace "I forget his name" to the Senate so now there is an election a takin place. The election is between Republican Mark Sanford (yes, the previous Governor of SC who decided to hike the Appalachian Trail) and Democrat Elizabeth Colbert-Busch (The Colbert Shows sister). One of Colbert's foot soldiers came to my door when my wife and I were relaxing and pimped for Colbert-Busch. I stated that he was wasting his time and should move on, but he kept pressing. So, I stated that I am anti-union, small government, pro secure border, beleive that if you make the money you should keep it and not give it to free loaders, and pro second ammendment. When I said the last part, pro-second ammendment, he immediately stated that he was done here and was sorry to have bothered me. About a half hour later a local cop knocked on my door to and asked to talk to me. He asked if I had threatened anyone with a gun today. My answer was "no" and I asked why he was here. He stated that a pollster had called and felt threatened. I explained to the cop that he asked why I wasn't voting in this election, and I stated the reasons I wouldn't vote for Sanford and the reasons I won't vote for Colbert-Busch. The cop said that the foot soldier thought he was threatened, then I explained to the cop how the conversation took place and that the foot soldier asked me why I wouldn't vote for Colbert-Busch and I told him my reasons. The cop asked if I had any weapons in the house, and I told him that I had a few base ball bats, a crow bar, an ax, and mulitple fire arms (the cop laughed when I told him this). He asked if I had any weapons on me when I spoke to the foot soldier, and I told him that I had no immediate access to them. He stated that I had done nothing wrong and actually rolled his eyes a little bit, but it was still aggravating.

Now for the second part of my post. The republicans need to get thier shit together. Alot of my friends have been approached by pro-dem foot soldiers, seen pro-dem individuals handing out flyers, and have seen a shit ton more posters/yard signs/bumper stickers than from the repubs. The repubs need to understand that there are no safe areas anymore like the Charleston congressional district once was. The repubs need to get thier folks out there, because Nany Pelosi (BITCH) and the Unions are getting their folks out there.

Wow. Just...wow. Cops called for invoking an amendment of the Constitution of the United States during a conversation?

GBMelBlount is right: this country is toast.

That is not right. That pollster should be charged. My gosh, that is just scary.

I agree with this. The campaign also deserves some bad publicity for this.

Those are the types who want government to control their lives.

You knew who the pollster was pimping for and immediately tried to save his time and yours. I think he should have been grateful and moved on.

I agree. Let the people know what their in for if said individual is elected.

I wonder how threatened they would feel if I invited them into my house with all the dead animals hanging on the wall. :chuckle:

Especially if you put up a mannequin's head.

That is actually a very good idea. SCSTILLER - if the cop came out to your house, I bet there's a report somewhere. I'd get a copy of it and go to the GOP headquarters and tell them EXACTLY what happened. I could imagine all types of bad publicity based on this. Do you know anyone that works for the newspaper, or a local TV station? Give 'em a call and tell them about how a campaign worker called the police on you because he didn't like your answer, and that you have the proof from the police that it was nothing more than that.

Wow. The worst thing that could happen is to have the cops called on you for a "false" reason. Glad to hear you were lucky enough to get a cop that had a good head on his shoulders. That pollster needs his arse kicked.

One thing that worked in his favor is that cops are used to getting bogus calls, and they hate wasting their time on that kind of crap.

A lot of the people who abuse these types of "powers" are the people who would otherwise have none.

Makes'em feel "impotent"

Update everyone: I made some contacts to the local RNC and they are looking into it for me. They said this is exactly the firepower they need and that they would keep my name out of it (which with my profession is extremely important) and that they would look into whether or not there is a history with this foot soldier. Hopefully it gets out and does some good.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, unfortunately I think Colbert-Busch is going to beat Sanford here in this Republican held strong hold. Sanford has way too much baggage (he is carrying the whole Appalachian Trail on his shoulders *if you know Sanford you get what I am saying*) and Pelosi is pumping a ton of money into this election.

Yeah, the cop had this attitude like he really didn't want to be there and he knew it was BS.

That might be a blessing in disguise. Colbert-Busch will be a LOT easier to get rid of in 2014.

You have a point there, and she cannot do too much damage in a year! I was just shaking my head when Sanford got the nod for the repub's in this election.
