Even just for his name. Baccardi Rum. Wonder what his parents were drinking?

Steelers took Markus Wheaton WR , Oregon State - Like it a lot. He was slow at the combine though...4.45 40...lol.

Wheaton's a track-trained deep threat from Oregon State who disappointed at the combine with "only" a 4.45 40. Great character. Team capt.

Looking at the scouting report on Wheaton on http://NFL.com (http://t.co/hT6MOYVIAW)and the player they compared him to was Antonio Brown.

During the week of practices at the Senior Bowl, Wheaton emerged as one of the best WRs there.

I think we are in BPA from here on out. I would like a safety, but next year is probably the must for taking a safety in the first three rounds.

Haley says Wallace was an outside WR. Wheaton plays inside. Calls him a highly-productive guy. Exciting w/ ball in his hands

I don't know much about him or if this is good value, but from what I am hearing, he seems like a good player

I was really hoping that Keenan Allen would fall to us.

Wheaten seems to be too similar to Brown and Sanders to me. I would have liked a bigger WR. Wheaten sounds pretty promising though.

It's good value and I like the pick, but it begs two questions:

1) Is there room long-term for Sanders, Brown, and Wheaton? This may indicate that Sanders is indeed here temporarily, especially since

2) This means we still need to draft a tall WR next year. Plax will do for now but dude's old

A willing receiver over the middle with the toughness to handle running with the ball on the fly-sweep, Wheaton has the production to prove that he isn't just a track athlete in football pads... he's a big play waiting to happen.

Wheaton tends to play too fast at times in his routes, but when controlled he has the sudden moves and athleticism to create and make smooth adjustments to the ball.

But you are forgetting that in two or three more seasons under Goodell it will be a 15 yard penalty to look at a wide receiver menacingly. So, it will really come down to first team to 50 points wins. Therefore, size will pretty much be irrelevant.

THis is Sanders' replacement. Sanders won't be back.

Suddenness and glide at WR? :chuckle:

Is that even legal?

So we got an Isaac Redman clone at WR? :chuckle:

Could he be another option as a return man? I know we just signed LaRod Stephens Howling too.

Not only could we lose Sanders but also Cotch and Plax next year.

You can't possibly be crying over this draft

OLB, RB and WR addressed in first 3 rds

their three biggest needs

He's a gunner, a kick returner and punt returner. He'll replace Sanders at WR in 2014.

As for Plax...he may not make it through this year...

WHile I'm happy with the draft, I would argue that the two biggest needs were S and ILB...

Well that certainly makes zero sense. Why in the hell would the Steelers let Sanders go next year when they could of had another 3rd pick this year and saved themselves some money to boot. Nah, I believe the Steelers fully intend to sign Sanders long term this year. Cotch and Plex are probably gone next year, but we're keeping Brown, Sanders, Wheaton, and a few camp bodies.
