2013 NFL Mock Draft

1. Kansas City Chiefs - Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

Surprise! Andy Reid has called Geno Smith "a young Donovan McNabb." Reid loves having options at the quarterback position. The Chiefs snagged Alex Smith this offseason but he isn't the longterm answer.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M

The Jaguars need help at tackle. Eugene Monroe and Cameron Bradfield are the only two on the roster and Joeckel might be the safest player on the board.

3. Oakland Raiders - Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon

The Raiders don't have much on the defensive line. Dion Jordan is a player with all the potential in the world and could make a big impact here.

4. Philadelphia Eagles - Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama

Dee Milliner is the best defensive back in this pool of players and the Eagles could use help at corner after parting ways with both Nnamdi Asomougha and Dominique Rodgers - Cromartie this offseason.

5. Detroit Lions - Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan

Like a lot of teams, the Lions are absent of much manpower at the tackle position. Riley Reiff should step into the spotlight on the line now that Jeff Backus has retired and Gosder Cherilus is in Indianapolis, but opposite him they have nothing. Fisher should be an immediate starter.

6. Cleveland Browns - Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State

The Browns have a surprisingly solid roster. If the team still believes in Brandon Weeden, they have the rare chance to make a luxury pick here. Rhodes would be a great compliment to an already potent defensive backfield that includes Joe haden, Chris Owens and T.J. Ward.

7. Arizona Cardinals - Ezekiel Ansah, OLB, BYU

The Cardinals defense is coming together well this offseason but they could still use some pass rush to complete the squad. Ansah has a lot of natural ability.

8. Buffalo Bills - Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee

The Bills really need a playmaker on the outside. Patterson would give them a chance to have the type of receiver they've been searching for.

9. New York Jets - Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma

Johnson could be the tackle the Jets have been looking for to bookend with D'Brickashaw Ferguson. He'll need to bulk to get the most out of his run blocking potential, but Johnson is already a great pass blocker.

10. Tennessee Titans - Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida

The defensive line in Tennessee isn't what it used to be. A addition like Floyd is greatly needed if the Titans want to see their defense return to form.

11. San Diego Chargers - Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia

The Chargers could really use some speed on offense. Austin would give San Diego the playmaking ability they have been missing since the departure of Vincent Jackson.

12. Miami Dolphins - Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State

Jeff Ireland would love to get a solid pass rusher to pair with Cameron Wake. Werner would be a great fit. The Dolphins will hope to capitalize by bringing his talents to Miami.

13. New York Jets - Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU

Mingo is a promising pass rusher that the Jets could use to help finally give the defense the pressure it has been looking for. Opposite Antwan Barnes, Mingo could thrive in New York.

14. Carolina Panthers - Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri

Richardson would be a big help to the defensive line in Carolina. He would add continuity to the middle of the defense and take attention away from edge rushers Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy.

15. New Orleans Saints - Star Lotulelei, NT, Utah

The Saints would benefit from having a young nose tackle to share time with Brodrick Bunkley in their transitioning defense.

16. St. Louis Rams - Kenny Vaccaro, FS, Texas

The Rams have plenty of holes to fill. But Vaccaro could prove to be a special playmaker in the defensive backfield.

17. Pittsburgh Steelers - Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia

The Steelers have known commodity LaMarr Woodley and promising pass rusher Jason Worilds already on the roster, but Woodley has experienced a much publicized downfall due to health issues recently and Worilds is unproven. Chances both players produce this season aren't great, adding Jones to the mix would be a smart move for a team that also just lost James Harrison to the division rival Bengals.

18. Dallas Cowboys - Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama

The Cowboys get one of the best players in this draft at a great spot here. Warmack should turn into a stalwart along the offensive line.

19. New York Giants - Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame

The Giants are still upset that the Patriots nabbed Jake Ballard away from them last offseason, and Martellus Bennett played well at tight end for New York, but he is now a Bear. They need to find a longterm answer at the position. Eifert should prove to give them a great chance at a franchise tight end.

20. Chicago Bears - D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama

The Bears have needed help at tackle for a long time now. Despite spending several high picks on the position in the past, it's still an area of great need. Fluker is a solid prospect who could prove to be a steal here.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia

The Bengals have a lot of linebackers. But outside of Rey Maualuga they don't have many options on the inside. Ogletree could play that spot and offer versatility to play on the outside if needed, too.

22. St. Louis Rams - Keenan Allen, WR, California

Allen could be the strong receiver that the Rams desperately need. Sam Bradford hasn't had many weapons since he arrived in St. Louis.

23. Minnesota Vikings - Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina

Another solid guard would only add to the Vikings already strong run game. Adrian Peterson could benefit greatly from having Cooper up front which would give Minnesota one of the better lines in football.

24. Indianapolis Colts - Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama

The Colts built a formidable offense behind Andrew Luck in his rookie campaign. Adding a talented back such as Lacy would give Indianapolis another young weapon to build around.

25. Minnesota Vikings - Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington

The Vikings look to replace departed corner Antoine Winfield with the talented young defensive back out of Washington. Beyond natural talent, Trufant brings good NFL genes to the table.

26. Green Bay Packers - Justin hunter, WR, Tennessee

This is the lightest Green Bay has been on talent at the receiver position in several years. The Packers like to keep that position stocked, and will add Justin Hunter out of Tennessee to the shelf.

27. Houston Texans - Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU

There has been a mass exodus of second level defenders in Houston over the last couple of offseasons. The Texans need a lot of help at linebacker both inside and outside. Although he wouldn't add a ton of pass rush, Minter would fill a need on the inside next to Brian Cushing.

28. Denver Broncos - Sylvester William, DT, North Carolina

Sylvester Williams would add a force in the middle of the defensive line for the Broncos. On a team that doesn't have many needs, this would be largely a luxury selection.

29. New England Patriots - Margus hunt, DE, SMU

Hunt is a great athlete who the Patriots could employ in a number of ways. He could likely prove to be excellent value here.

30. Atlanta Falcons - Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford

Ertz is a better prospect than his fellow Stanford product, Coby Fleener, was last year. The Falcons would profit from this selection.

31. San Francisco 49ers - Damontre Moore, OLB, Texas A&M

San Francisco could take a chance on Moore who has fallen in value considerably since the start of the draft process. but Jim Harbaugh thinks he can get more out of players that other teams are afraid of and Moore would be no different.

32. Baltimore Ravens - Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame

The Ravens have lost both Ray Lewis and Dannell Ellerbe this offseason and have already experinced what Rolando McClain has to offer. So it would be no surprise to see them pursue an inside linebacker like Te'o. In Baltimore, he would have the chance to grow into the player we all thought he was just a few months ago.

The lack of quarterbacks here is concerning, and I'm sure it doesn't go down like this. But I like to do things a little differently. And I don't like Glennon, Barkley or Nassib all that much. Also, I would have liked to have done more rounds, but like many of us it seems I just wasn't as into it this year as I usually am. I don't find this class particularly exciting. Outside of the quarterbacks and pass rushers I really haven't watched much tape this year so most of these guys are not based on my first hand opinions. That said, here is my Steelers mock.
