Sources: Jets have agreement in principle to trade Darrelle Revis to Buccaneers
by Jason Cole, Yahoo! Sports
The New York Jets have agreed in principle on a trade to send star cornerback Darrelle Revis to Tampa Bay for undisclosed draft picks and the Buccaneers have agreed to a long-term contract that will make Revis one of the highest paid non-quarterbacks in the NFL, according to multiple sources.
Revis boarded a private jet Sunday morning to fly to Tampa Bay for an official physical, although the Buccaneers' medical staff is already aware of the results of an MRI exam Revis took April 15 when he returned to the Jets’ offseason program. Assuming the physical goes well, a final agreement could be reached by Sunday night or Monday morning.

Quick prediction, Revis wont make the Bucs a legitimate Super Bowl contender. A cornerback can only cover one receiver and isn't worth a 15 million+ cap hit in my opinion.

Quick prediction, Revis wont make the Bucs a legitimate Super Bowl contender. A dramatic cornerback with dollar signs in his eyes can only cover one receiver and isn't worth a 15 million+ cap hit in my opinion.
Had to fix one thing, but otherwise, you hit the nail right on the head.

Too bad Tebow already belongs to them, otherwise they might trade that pick for him!

The Bucs paid a hefty price for this prima donna. 13th overall is too much, in my opinion.

smart move by the Jets IMO , move a player who wants big bucks and take a high draft pick and replace him with it , granted said pick will not be of Revis Quality day 1 but I doubt Revis will be either .... on top of that Revis island crap was over blown , yes he was excellent but he was not as great as the media made him out to be .... Jets win with the deal ....
Tampa losses by default because they are so concerned about a CB when their real concern should be QB or at the very least protecting the one they have at a level good enough to see if he can be a winner just my 2 cents

The Jets need that first round pick because now they have no good players on that crap team of theirs. This team will be lucky to win 4 games

I think this was a little too risky. Giving up a first round pick and a conditional pick for next years draft for a player who is recovering from a torn ACL maybe a little too much. He might not be the same type of player he once was, but then again, he could be even better. Only time will tell.

Jets cap hit is now $12M...lol. Would have been $6M to keep him. Bucs paying Revis $3M roster bonus with $13M salary for each of the next 6 years. NOTHING guaranteed...good deal for the Bucs. Down side is that Revis will probably hold out but then the Bucs can just let him rot to the point where $16M is well more than he'd be able to make elsewhere.
A one and a three? Not a bad price to pay for the Top CB in the league...who is well over the ACL tear...his running and cutting at this point is just fine.

Bucs just look stupid in this deal. You say they limited liability with the contract? Well let's assume it doesn't work out, he comes in and just doesn't perform , they are out a 13th pick and a 3rd or 4th plus 16 mil, pretty much to give up to find out. Let's say he comes in and is his old self, you lose a 13th and a 3rd round, plus 16 mil a season, that is essentially like drafting a CB 1st overall in the old draft system. 1 CB just not worth all that, period! 16 mil is the price of all 4 CBs on most teams.

So your saying if he doesn't work out in a year, they can just go out and get a whole new secondary for the price. That's not a loss...lol...it'd be a high risk gamble with an average contigency plan.
For an elite player, you have to give up elite picks and have to give up elite money. You wouldn't give up your #1 and #3 picks from say...2008 for Revis? Draft picks are no guarantee. Revis with a "damaged wheel" is a better gamble than 2 draft picks. Money isn't an issue with the Bucs...they have plenty to spend. I'd also say they aren't done adding to that back end of the D...betting that its the main reason they didn't want to give up that #2...

They've checked him out, so the Bucs must feel OK based on his physical. I heard just as much on Moving the Chains.
