LATROBE, Pa. – The Steelers today claimed second-year fullback Dwayne Wright off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles (http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/).

Wright (6-0, 234) signed with Philadelphia as a free agent in January 2010, after originally being drafted by the Buffalo Bills (http://www.buffalobills.com/) in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft out of Fresno State. He appeared in 15 games with the Bills during his rookie season and gained 94 yards on 29 carries................................

Wasn't Wright orginally a running back? I guess it's better than trying to transition from a DL like Taylor was attempting...

I think it was obvious that Taylor was a stretch to make the team. The emphasis at the FB position shouldnt be overlooked, and I will be interested in watching the competition as to who is going to make the final roster.

Not surprised to see Taylor cut. 270 lbs is a bit big for a FB. He was a big long shot.

Just checked it out and yeah, he was a RB. Was the guy in college at Fresno St.

THAT was the best play that Arians called all year! Hey guess what?!!! we're gonna run this right down your throat...try to stop it! I would have loved to see him use that a few more times during the year...and then do play action off it a couple of times. That would be some creative play calling.

Damn,I really hoped Demetrius Taylor made the team.

A guy like Brad Hoover is still a free agent and he wouldn't be a bad option at fullback.

Interesting indeed dude, but it will be difficult for him to play under BA. Maybe they signed this guy as another training camp body :noidea:

Disclaimer : I'm not bashing BA :chuckle:

That play with Legursky leadblocking as fullback worked so well it scared BA and he never wanted to run it again because it was a threat to half of his playbook that consists of empty backfield sets inside the 5 yard line and on 3rd and short.

Yes, but he's an OL, not a FB. You don't have a full-time FB who's 270 lbs, especially one who hasn't played the position previously.

I love Hoover!

but I think the guy may be done. The panthers have the best run game in the league,a and they wouldn't just release him if he still could help them

Too bad all the good fullbacks are getting old

Wright will take Taylor's number and wear 38.

Wright could do no wrong (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10216/1077454-66.stm)

Running back Dwayne Wright did not waste any time making an impression with his new teammates.

After flying from Philadelphia and arriving at St. Vincent College in Latrobe at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Wright jumped right in and opened a few eyes with his running style, even though he did not know any of the plays.

"I can do everything, but I'm more of a running back," said Wright, a fourth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2007. "When the time comes to block, I'll block. I'll take you out if I have to block."

I'm hoping he can open holes as well as eyes.

Having another RB in the mix shouldn't hurt either.

Hey - whatever is going to give our rushing game a boost, I'm in favor of. :drink: When XT and I attend TC next week, I'm going to spend a bit of time focusing on him.
