If the 2nd Amendment protects the "right to bear arms", where is the "right to use ammo" protected?

It seems to me that if the government cronies really wanted to put a stop to gun crimes, banning all types of ammo would be the way to go.

If the banned it, then they'd realize it would still be out there so they would then tax the hell out of it. Or, simply tax ammo like cigarettes, that would make it too expensive to purchase.

I'd be willing to be that taxing ammo will be suggested at some point. They can use the "extra revenue" to improve security in violent areas, also known as "put the money in their own pockets".

Not really. At least IMO, in order to bear arms in the manner consistent with the framers of the 2nd Amendment, ammo must also be available. Otherwise, it is impossible to produce a militia for a state.

Just charge $10 tax per bullet. After you shoot somebody you need to dig it back out of their body, "Excuse me, I think you have some of my property."

The SCOTUS would call that an "undue burden".

they have already discussed taxing ammo and somewhere I read by as much as 50 cents per round in tax levy , to my knowledge it was never introduced as legislation but it had been " discussed" ...

pardon the pun but I suggest Loading up with everything you can get your hands on and keep doing so until you have 10k rounds of surplus for every caliber you own ... and do not touch it ... buy as you shoot from then on in case it gets crazy taxed or invest in reloading equipment and lots of primers , molds and pick up every piece of brass you come across .....

as far as legislating ammo to be against the law I do not feel they can do it any more than guns themselves , its an equal proposition to me , nobody would vote for one that would not vote for the other IMO ...

best thing to do is keep an eye on how your reps vote , if they infringe on our rights even slightly vote them out because they always take an inch before they take a mile

Why do you think the government is buying up rounds of civilian ammo by the billion? Ammo control is the new gun control

That's great advice.

240,000 rounds takes up a lot of space.

A little off topic but.......

America, Are You Prepared To Die For A Communist Dictator?

As history is about to repeat itself for those who are paying attention, a major storm is coming. We have our Communist/Muslim Brotherhood plant, Barack Hussein Obama, running around now stating that he isn’t a dictator. Anyone who has paid attention over the past five years knows that whatever he says is always the exact opposite of what he does.

He promised us back in 2008 that he would build a civilian army that was to be as well equipped and as well funded as the US military. Have you happened to notice the amount of ammunition, guns, and military equipment that the Department of Homeland Security has purchased lately? At the same time, our military is being cut back due to the sequester that Obama himself ordered! Our top Generals are being weeded out at an alarming rate. Does this bother you at all?

Even with sequester cuts, Obama and his minions are still giving US Taxpayer dollars to Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and the Muslim Brotherhood. Does this not bother you? According to the talking heads in the media, Obama was re-elected by just over fifty percent of this country. My question is this: are those who elected him willing to die for him? Just as they did for Hitler, Stalin, or Mao?

They won't ban it at first, they'll just tax the hell out of it so it is more expensive for legal gun owners to shoot and train.

Of course, California is already on it.
