Once again, the Baltimore Ravens have defeated the Broncos.
Elvis Dumervil, one of the best defensive ends in Broncos history, has agreed to a multiyear contract with the Ravens, according to two NFL sources. Dumervil's departure occurs 10 weeks after Baltimore stunned the Broncos, 38-35 in double-overtime of a second-round AFC playoff game on a below-zero windchill Saturday afternoon.
The Broncos are expected to focus on signing defensive end John Abraham, who had 10 sacks and six forced fumbles for the Atlanta Falcons last season — or just one less sack than Dumervil. Former Indianapolis Colt Dwight Freeney is also a possibility if the Broncos can't reach an agreement with Abraham.

And now let us just watch in awe as he and Flacco fail miserabily this season.

As I stated in another thread, regardless of what players the Steelers and Ravens have lost (and required) I still fully expect this to be the hardest hitting rivalry in the NFL this season.
And now let us just watch in awe as he and Flacco fail miserabily this season.

Signing Dumervil makes them instantly better than they were yesterday, it's a great signing for the ravens

he'll make $8.5 mil this year, with cap number at $2.5 m. Steelers should've got it done...

@ProFootballTalk: Elvis Dumervil's base deal in Baltimore comes in at 64 percent of what Paul Kruger will cost Cleveland.
Lol...

Never. But when you have one that only costs $2.5M as a cap hit...you need to question it.

Tomlin will "see him on the field" in September.
Gilbert will be blocking him......

Yeah that was a good pick up for the ravens and, we like to resign players that we released a few year earlier.

Yeah, but what are the cap hits for the duration of his deal? Even Flacco's deal is cap friendly this year. Seems to me, everyone is still gambling that the cap will increase quite a bit next year. I think the Steelers are getting gun shy, because of what has happened to this roster. The cap has been flat for 3 years. Of course, the year the Steelers get conservative and pull back, you can guarantee that the cap will go up by about 20mil next year.

Flacco's deal is actually friendly through out the firsts few years. It's not until the last year (typically the restructure year) that the bulk kicks in...it's not a terrible deal at all.
Dumervil is 5 year/$35M so it can't be that bad...

Flacco at 20m/year, can't all be left for his last year. Dumervil has 32.5mil to clear after this year, not bad over 4 years.

I didn't
Mean to type last year. I meant fourth. $29M or so is on Flacco's fourth year typically the season he'd be restructured anyway. So up until then, the cap is very manageable for Flacco. I think it tips out at $15M.

Every player the Ravens have signed are 30+. Arthur Jones just called them a "dream team". Continue to think they are going to stay on pace, please, go ahead.
