The Oakland Raiders released wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey and defensive back Michael Huff in a surprising move hours after free agency began on Tuesday.

Heyward-Bey was selected seventh overall in the 2009 NFL Draft, and had 140 receptions for 2,071 yards and 11 touchdowns in four seasons.

Huff, the Raiders' first-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, had 11 interceptions in seven seasons in Oakland.

I guess you could call it surprising if they didn't both suck ...

I like him, he can be a good receiver for the right team he just got caught up in Oakland there is alot of players that never seem to make it out there.

For the right price, it wouldn't be the worst signing... I think lol

why not Darrius Heyward-Bey with the steelers?!

I'll tell you why not, cause he's an awful player with hands like Limas Sweed. No way

We already had a fast guy with shitty hands. The only difference is this one can't get open either.

Which team did he play for? Who was his QB?

If he is cheap, why not?

I think both guys have some value. Heyward-Bey can play but has never put it together. Huff has actually had some decent seasons.

They draft Darius Heyward-Bey and Michael Huff in the 1st round in a 4 year span, no wonder the Raiders stink every year, even worse considering neither was the worst pick in that span

I like Huff better than Bey ....

Huff Was the #1 SS in the draft in 2006 but is on the wrong side of 30.

If he's not worth $8 mil to them do you any idea what his current value is?

No, he can't be a good WR. He's a body catcher. He doesn't/can't/won't come back for a ball. He doesn't fight for a ball. He's fast, that's it.

He's a good guy that works hard. Not his fault Al took him #7 overall. Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

The Raiders are doing what needs to be done......... purging all the Al players from the roster. It's going to be a while before the Raiders are a viable team again.

believe me I am not saying give him what he would have got had they kept him ...

I just like him better than D-H-B .. and with a value contract 2 mill a year or less he would provide an outstanding insurance policy for Clark and Troy as I feel he could play either spot in our def .

both of our current starting S are on the wrong side of 30 too and both have proved as of late to have the propensity to get nicked up and miss some time ...

we also have been known to play 3 S at a time in some situation having a guy Like Huff could prove as a benefit in those situations as well

nothing more nothing less

Huff is better than Mundy and really that's all that needs to be said. I would take Huff as a depth guy for cheap in a second.
