Mike Wallace is indeed on the verge of becoming a Miami Dolphin, I'm told. He's taking a physical. The sides have reached an agreement.

I have been told the Dolphins will pay Mike Wallace five-years, $65 million with $30 million guaranteed. The numbers have not been confirmed

Guaranteed he won't have a ring with the Dolphins. Not surprised at all with the amount.

Kind of pisses me off. He holds out, does nothing for us all year, and then gets rewarded with big money.

That sets a really bad precedent.

So teams should not pay free agents big contracts because they held out on their previous team? Did you really think teams were gonna say this guy could really help us but he held out on the steelers so we are gonna teach him a lesson. Wallace knew exactly what he was doing and so did his agent, who by the way everyone said he should fire. So if wallace turned down 10 mil a year or 7 mil a year it doesnt matter at this point because either way it was the right move. Good for you Mike you stuck to your guns and got the money you wanted.

I think you're missing the point. He had less than a stellar year...and got rewarded for it.

Oxymoron. Off year should not equal a big pay day. However, we all know that he is paid on his reputation of being a 40 yard bomber.

Good luck Mike.

I hate to break it to you, but that kind of already was the precedent. In pretty much all the big sports now. Sucker born every minute. etc.

Anyway ... Wallace. Congratulations, asshole.

Congragulations to the Miami Dolphins. Winner of the 2013 opening day of free agency!

http://ts2.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.4542667602657797&pid=15.1

Thus joining previous off season free agency winner such as the 2011 Eagles, the Redskins of just about any year from 96-2009, several recent Cowboys teams, and of course the 2012 Bills! Well done Miami, enjoy it now, because your real season will probably suck. :heh:

I'm happy for him.

I'm also happy that the Steelers didn't waste that kind of money and cap space on him.

Wait, I thought the Wallace fans said he didn't want $10,000,000+ a season? The Dolphins are morons...lol.

FYI - they're now saying it was 5 years and $60 million, not $65M: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9044521/mike-wallace-miami-dolphins-agree-5-year-60-million-deal

So perhaps the thread title should be updated.

That's also $12M a year, which was the break-even point after he turned down $10M last season to play for $2M.

Congratulations Mike - after all that bullshit, you broke even.

lmao, so much bitter grapes in this thread, wouldve thought this is a sea-squawks forum. "Have fun losing in miami and not getting any rings mike!" lol like he cares. the kid got the money he wanted, he was shrewd and determined and it paid off. Literally. Well played.

I hope the Steelers or Wallace official disclose what was offered last year. Sure would be nice to put to bed all this speculation.

strange. it says $65 million in the caption at the top of that page and $65 million pretty much everywhere else so far. espn needs to get a new editor and clear things up

if he would of signed for 10 mil over 5 seasons and the low gauranteed money instead of the 60 million and 30 gauranteed he would look dumb hes way ahead of even.

what i meant by that is he wasnt turning down 10 mil he was turning down the entire contract and he got a much better contract.

Overpaid. Big time. The Dolphins will want to ask for a refund in about 2 years. But as I said in another thread, young players care about getting paid first and foremost, and don't care where it comes from. So congrats Mike, and try not to end up broke in 5 years.

Kudos to Mike. It did work out for him, personally, in the end. If he gets back to pre 2012 form AND if their QB has a good deep ball, he'll do well.

Now as for the 2013 Steelers offense, every reason to believe they'll be average at best. God forbid A. Brown goes down.

Caveat Emptor.
The Dolphins have no obligation to us to punish him. They think he's worth the money. If he's not, then it'll be the Dolphins who have to live with it.
