for me the 40 is the most over rated event at the combine , none of those guys will be wearing shorts and running on a track in the NFL and not everyone runs the same in shorts as they do in pads ( extra weight and restricting ) ... 40 time ( straight line speed ) effects very little playing football ( except for guys like Mike Wallace ) most players can be better judged by how they perform the 3 cone drill IMO

Don't think the hammy itself would make him slid to awful much, but link that with his foot problems, and you can't tell what will happen. He hopes to be ready for his pro day, if his is that would help him,,,,,,,, if he can show well.

I'll be paying attention to the defensive backs and linebackers the most. I'm excited to watch them all run their drills.

Report: #Steelers Have Already Met With North Carolina G Jonathan Cooper At The Combine
During the NFL combine teams allowed to meet with 60 players over the course of the week for 15 minutes. Jim Wexell of Steel City Insiders reported via Twitter on Thursday that the Pittsburgh Steelers have already met with North Carolina guard Jonathan Cooper, who is considered by many to be the second ranked guard in the draft this year.

Cooper was a consensus All-America selection and Outland Trophy finalist in 2012. He is very coordinated and athletic, and thus a perfect pulling and zone-blocking scheme prospect. He measured in at the combine at 6021, 311 and has 33 inch arms.

"I've been coaching 26 years now, and I've not had an interior lineman with his athletic ability, North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora said about Cooper back in October. "So he's pretty special." ............

Steelers To Meet With USC WR Robert Woods At Combine

The 2013 NFL combine continues on in Indianapolis and another player has been identified as one that the Pittsburgh Steelers will meet with for 15 minutes. Jim Wexell of Steel City Insider reports via Twitter that USC wide receiver Robert Woods has indicated that he has a meeting scheduled with the black and gold. Teams are allowed to meet with 60 players during the week.

Woods measured in on Friday at 6003, 201 and is currently regarded my many as a top ten wide receiver in the draft this year. He figures to be drafted somewhere in the second or third round...........

Luke Joeckel runs 5.22. I don't know if that is slow or not but he looked slower. It shouldn't affect him but you never know given how serious 40 times are taken. I saw Lane Johnson on the other hand and he is fast, official 40 time 4.75

totally agree

we do need to pick up a WR , but with all our other needs it will have to be a low $ FA or a late round pick IMO ... maybe this is Colberts smoke screen interview ?

Steelers Met With PSU DT Jordan Hill At The NFL CombineThe 2013 NFL combine continues on in Indianapolis and on Saturday Penn State defensive tackle Jordan Hill said in his talk with the media that the Pittsburgh Steelers were one of the teams that he had already met with, according to Penn Live.

At 6 foot, 1 inch and 291 pounds Hill is a little light in the pants currently to play nose tackle in the Steelers 3-4 defense, but he made it known that he is willing to make the transition from the 4-3 that he played in college if he is asked to do it...........

I'm currently watching the combine and the receivers looked good in their drills. The qbs, not so much. The receivers are running the forty well though. I have a feeling this will be a good draft for receivers... I just hope the Steelers do not draft a receiver in the first round though.

Kenny Stills unofficial 4.28 when he was expected to run in a 4.49 area , just moved up the draft boards by a round or 2 ( today's NFL draft boards like those measurable's )

a 4th or 5th round prospect that now probably does not make it out of the 3rd round

Knile Davis was probably the most impressive RB at the combine for me .... 5'10" 220 31 reps of 225 lbs second of all the RBs ..... that is some pretty impressive power when put into perspective vs guys nearly 100 pound his senior ( most O-Linemen did not do that many ) ...... and his 40 time was also the second fastest ran the only man faster was 60 pounds lighter , to add a little more perspective to just how fast Davis ran the 40 he was the 5th fastest man at the combine after the first few days , speed and power ...

now I told you all before I do not get caught up in workout numbers so much and I don't .... this just solidified what I had already thought of Davis ( I mentioned him before as a guy I liked ) I just think teams will be opening their eyes on him too ( in other words the secret is out for all the mock drafters ) Look for Davis to creep up mock drafts and no longer be a 4th and 5th round prospect

career at Arkansas 349 carries 1862 yards and 19 TDs with just 1 season as the full time stater ( Broken ankle his senior year and broken collar bone his junior year ) he is 2 years removed from 204 carries 1322 yards and 13 td season , he does not have a lot of wear and tear on his body from his collegiate career ( just 350 carries some backs have that in 1 season ) so the term " fresh legs " would apply here

the kid has great feet and an eye for the hole dare I say he reminds me of Arian Foster ?

and to top it all off , when this kid scores he acts like he has been there before and casually flips the ball to the official and gets back to his business no chest pounding look at me stuff , no dancing around does his job and gets back to work ...

well enough of the hype , here watch his footwork , watch his vision , watch his speed in the open field tell me if you do not see Foster in this kid ...

I was high on Davis going into this season, then cooled a little. Can't remember why, maybe just forgot about him,,,,,,,,, I am kinda old you know. Have been keeping track of his combine numbers and they look about what I expected early on. Don't have any problem with drafting him at all. For sure one to keep an eye on. Hope we interview the kid. Wish I had NFL Network, this is the first combine I've missed in years.

Colbert love a good smoke screen .... could be a sign of Colbert realizing what a great opportunity he has to trade back in this draft and if teams are wanting a QB they may want to deal with him than take a chance on him taking their guy off the board ?

no lock that Geno Smith goes number 1 over all and if he slips past 9 he may go all the way to the 20's unless someone trades up to take him ( perhaps Colbert's ace in the hole ? ) lots of teams need a QB but none of these guys honestly in my mind hold first round value and a handful hold second round value ....
