Per Mary Kay Cabot (https://twitter.com/MaryKayCabot/status/284715808242929664), Browns head coach until Monday Pat Shurmur announced today that third-string quarterback Thad Lewis would start against the Steelers in Week 17, as Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy are (terrible) "dealing with injuries." Lewis will be the Browns' 18th starting quarterback since 1999, and this will be his first career start. But who is he, anyway?

Hailing from Hialeah, Fla., Thad Lewis started four years at Duke. Lewis's Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thaddeus_Lewis)—which has to be correct—claims that his nickname is "The Champ." How'd he get that moniker? This totally legitimate sentence in his "College career" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thaddeus_Lewis#College_career) section explains:

"He won 10 National Championships at Duke, Thats why he is nicknamed the champ."

Are you fricking kidding me?!?! The one game we face against a team facing an injury is in the one game where losing does nothing but hurt draft position. Here comes a crappy 17th, 18th pick, or 19th pick, a bottom half 1st round pick without making the playoffs

Since this game means nothing, I'd actually like to see that. Then the Browns will actually think he's good, and continue to suck while they waste two or three years dicking around making him the starter and then not the starter 50 times, like they do with every quarterback.

Are you suggesting that the Steelers go the way of the Colts did last year and tank this game? That is not the Steeler way, and I for one would turn in my fan card if the Steelers ever did that. Integrity, integrity, integrity. I hope they kick the living shit out of the Clowns.

100 bucks says we post the biggest blowout of the season on the browns in, of course, a completely meaningless game
