I see the analogy. Remember the Falcons game in 2006? Cowher wasted all his timeouts playing mind games with the kickers. That cost us the game because if we'd held on to one of the timeouts, we could have kicked a FG at the end of regulation. And if we win that game we make the playoffs.

Same for Tomlin going for 1 against the Chargers. Going for 2 keeps us in the game (although unlike Atlanta in 2006, it's a longshot even with good decisionmaking). Or the FG attempt today, except that one didn't end up biting us.

Hmm. How about

2012 = 2003, 2006, 2009.

Oh wait, that's right, each of the four seasons looking exactly alike and having a 99.95% chance of not being random means it's completely random that this season has played out like it has. :thumbsup:

No, I don't blame Tomlin. This is something much deep within the organization, and it's played out over two successive coaches.

I have yet to see Tomlin talk spit or kiss one of his players. That is a personal relief.

Is Colbert the constant over that stretch?

If it is an organizational thing, do you think this three year plan is a deliberate scheme for the Steelers to stay competitive? Make noise for two years then lay low for a season, rebuild, and make more noise?

Between the Lean years, the Steelers have contended for Super Bowls both times in between them, so if this pattern continues, this team will be good to go for #7 in no time. 2013 and 2014 are going to be special, then 2015 is going to suck, and so on...

I agree to an extent, but there is a difference, Cowher was just looking ahead to retirement and hoping for the season to end soon so he could enjoy retirement, Tomlin was just plain clueless

one team started out slow because of their qb bouncing his noggin of a car windshield then finished strong. the other started slow, got a little hot then completely quit on the coach. yep very similar seasons
