Cam Cameron fired by Baltimore Ravens as offensive coordinator (http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-cam-cameron-fired-by-baltimore-ravens-as-offensive-coordinator-20121210,0,429773.story)

Updated: 6 minutes ago Tired with the offense’s inconsistency and the lack of significant progression from quarterback Joe Flacco, the Ravens today let go much-maligned offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and replaced him with quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell, according to team sources.

Caldwell could barely win with Peyton, and couldn't do anything without him. So now we are supposed to believe that he is somehow going to develop Flacco, and move this team forward? I'm not buying that at all. This was/is a knee jerk reaction by Harbaugh to cover his own ass.

Hard to tell, really. The Colts obviously tanked last season on purpose to get Luck and Caldwell was the fall guy for it. And Peyton was his own OC when he was still with the Colts.

Here's a clue. Give the ball to Rice. Cameron just couldn't figure that out.

Yeah, I have to agree with that. Rice makes Flacco better, not the other way around.

Hahaha what a dumb shit. Cardwell always looks like he just took a sleeping pill. He won't last either.

I do know one thing - if Caldwell makes Rice the focal point of that offense instead of Bert, they're already better.

You have to know the whole football world has that figured out. What the heck is wrong in Baltimore? Is perhaps Flacco a Harbitch in disguise?

Oh I thought Hairball had it all figured out

I heard Caldwell was a pas happy guy, so maybe there will still be less use of Rice than there should be

fans on baltimore sports radio today were overjoyed! only one person (a redskins fan) raised a red flag and said in may not be such a good sign to fire your second in command two thirds of the way through the season.

Yep. Everyone in the world knows that except for the idiot coaches in Baltimore.

From a non-biased view point, I can't get the infatuation with putting the game in Slacco's hands instead of Rice's hand. Ray Rice is one of the NFL's elite RBs, Slacco is a mediocre player who has relied on Rice and his defense to make him look better than he really is and he chokes at nearly every opportunity. Flacco depended on Rice to make him look better, why didn't Cameron depend on Rice more?

According to Brian Billeck of NFLN, Caldwell has never called plays at the pro level. :noidea:

If Ray Rice is used more effectively, its going to be a lot harder to stop the Ravens offense. He's the best player not only on the offense, but on the entire team. I guess will see what happens.

In defense of Cameron, he tried his damndest with Flacco, because he understood that you need a Quarterback to win Championships in the league, the issue Flacco is simply not a Championship Quarterback.

You, I, and the Steelers fans know better than anyone that you need a QB to win a championship. Rice is only going to take that team so far, and Bert sure as hell isn't going to do it.

The Ravens are still stuck with Bert under center, so it doesn't really matter much.

Cam Cameron Offense with Flacco under center had as much chance to survive in this league as Lebeau would have with Bruce Davis as his " star" OLB in his scheme ...

each scheme is dependent of specific play from specific individuals within the system , if that player is incapable of upholding his part of the bargain in the system the system fails ... lots of systems in this league , lots of players and coaches in this league matching them up in the right places is the toughest part .... scheme dependent personnel is never over rated , scheme diverse is often over used ...

here is an example .. Place a GREAT QB like Joe Montana in a Bruce Arians style deep ball system and he is a guy nobody remembers 5 years later , Put Dan Marino in that same system and he probably wins a few superbowls .... if a player does not fit the system it is a square peg round hole syndrome ... Cameron's system is predicated on the QB's ability to not only throw the deep ball but to do it with great accuracy , Flacco can lay it out there but the accuracy is a bit hit or miss ... Cameron also did not have the benefit of the usual Ravens Def this year and was forced to throw the ball late in some games he normally would have been able to simply feed ray rice .... This for me is not on Cameron as much as it is on the Ravens and hairball specifically ....

Bad timing and if they think they will be better on short notice because of this move they are fooling themselves IMO

What is really going to suck is that the Ravens may in fact go winless the rest of the way and we won't be able to do a damn thing about it. I smell a real stinker of a game coming up against the Cowboys. Our playoff hopes will live or die against our 2 Ohio neighbors at Heinz field.
