It was the day on which he became the 25th quarterback in NFL history to amass 25,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing in the regular season, but it’s a certainty the distinction means little to him at this time. But Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/ben-roethlisberger/54dda34e-9e43-4c57-9397-1143ddced5d6/) also came back after missing three games with a right shoulder/rib injury and while his performance wasn’t flawless it did reflect the competitor that he is.

Roethlisberger completed 22-of-42 for 285 yards with three touchdowns and one interception, and if the argument can be made that the bulk of those statistics were cosmetic in what turned out to be a 34-24 loss to San Diego, there also is an argument that he was the best on an overall bad day for the Steelers.

Roethlisberger is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Ziggy Hood (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/ziggy-hood/d5735cbd-2280-4afb-968d-f159d5ca47d3/), who had eight tackles, including one for loss, the Steelers’ only sack, and a pass defensed; Larry Foote (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/larry-foote/8bbeec8c-cae8-4d79-8c84-eb94ce439442/), who had seven tackles and two hits on San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers; Lawrence Timmons (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/lawrence-timmons/afc86dd7-633e-4e37-a4da-5f089a96b666/), who led the team with 11 tackles, including one for loss; Mike Wallace (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/mike-wallace/304eecdf-1b60-4dc4-9cd8-7808d9f5c97a/), who caught seven passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns; Heath Miller (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/heath-miller/ada7ab1b-9acd-421a-bed0-79ccc4542630/), who caught five passes for 66 yards and battled to the bitter end; and Drew Butler (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/drew-butler/0d82ad8d-b222-429d-aad5-5f47c54d7a41/), who got off a 79-yard punt included in a 42.4-yard net average with two inside the 20-yard line.

He ran out onto the field well.

Drew Butler was considered? :frusty: Yeah loved those two first quarter punts that netted less than 30 yards each that helped shape negative field position for most of the first half.

And how the hell do you mention anyone on defense? Who stood out? They couldn't make an important stop after the first quarter.

I love Heath Miller...but he shouldn't have been in consideration.

They should have just vacated the award for a game. No one came cloese to earning it.
