Give Steelers cornerback Curtis Brown credit for this much on a very tough day: He was honest.

On his being pulled: "Truth be told, I deserved it."

Why the dropoff from last week?
"I had a good game last week and probably drunk the wine a little bit and didn't prepare well enough. That's all there is to it. I play a tough position. I gotta show up every week no matter what."

Casey Hampton was not buying the notion that there was some sort of emotional letdown after the big win at Baltimore.
"That (crap) is overrated," Hampton said. "We won't ever make that excuse. They outplayed us."
Despite the loss, the Steelers still control their fate. Does Big Snack still feel good about the team?
"I feel great about this team," he said. "Ain't no question about it. ... Going forward, I feel like we're going to win every game. I mean, ain't no question about it. That's what we gotta do."

8 years ago, Plax might have piped up about the coordinator blowing him off. Today he was politically correct ...
Plaxico Burress got involved early and made a nice 18-yard catch, but Todd Haley inexplicably ignored him for much of the rest of the game. I caught up with Plaxico afterward to gauge his feelings. He didn't seem perturbed at all.

"I'm just going out filling my role," he said. "They have certain packages for me to play."

Is he eager to prove yourself?

"I mean, it's going to come. I'm not worried about that. I'm working toward the goal of playing good football. I played more than I played last week, and I'm satisfied with that. There's still a lot of work to be done. I'm going to go back to practice next week and put the work in."
