Largely ineffective.

It was a mistake to start him imo.

They should have started Batch and seen how the game progressed.

OL and running game are giving him no help. Hard to be effective when you're being constantly harassed.

OK. It must be because of the OL and running game.

Yeah, the OL and running game have both been poor so far today, and yeah, it's hard to be effective when you have players in your face all day. How many times has he had to scramble? How many times has he been hit?

Exactly. Batch would've gotten killed behind this OL today.

You Never know Gary.

Ben simply did not look sharp.

Maybe the first half will loosen him....but so far his ineffectiveness brings back memories of last year when Ben started while still recovering from a serious injury.

Just sayin...

It's as sure as the sun will come up in the morning, Steelers' fans blame the quarterback regardless.

Regardless of the reasons, Ben is injured and is playing like shit...just like last year.

Coincidence or not, this game has gone exactly like what happened last year after charlie played well and then we STARTED Ben injured before being healed from a serious injury.

How quickly the Browns game is forgotten...

lol at Charlie Batch playing today. It would've been more like 50-0 in that case. Steelers played like crap.

Pretty much. The guy played one decent half of football in two games. And considering how much running for his life Ben had to do, I could just imagine good ol' immobile statue Charlie back there today.

It was the right decision to start Roethlisberger

Roethlisberger was rusty today and he should absolutely play

A lot of the plays looked very Arians-esque. Are they still incorporating his playbook?

Miller was completely ignored again. There is no such thing as a hurry-up offense in Pittsburgh.

Yep. Not going to get rid of that rust in practice. He seemed to do better as the game went along, so hopefully he will at least be close to his pre-injury performance level next week.

HAHAHAHAHA. I mean still using any term that has Arians in it is just pathetic.

I think Arians has a secret alliance with Todd Haley and is calling the plays for Todd to get back at our team.

batch would have been murdered out there today i thought ben was moving great he was throwing the ball well, us losing this game had nothing to do with ben. We were getting killed on defense (Curtis Brown), OLine was awful today, Running game was an absolute joke, and the coaching staff once again dropped the ball (Tomlin).

Ben looked pretty good today except for a couple of dumb mistakes. Today our problem was dickhead receivers who couldn't catch the ball, dickhead RBs who couldn't gain any yards, dickhead linemen who couldn't block, and a CB who couldn't cover his guy.

edit: dickhead CB ^^

I still don't understand why they don't use the no-huddle offense more with Ben. He is one of the best in the league at it, yet the only time he runs it is at the end of the half or in garbage time when they're behind. The game plan today was just brutal.

We couldnt use miller because they kept blitzes he was constantly in there blocking, until the game was out of hand and they backed off a little. What I want to know is where was antonio brown while they were running all these blitzes the underneath routes should have been open.

Ben notoriously struggles when he comes back after sitting out a lengthy amount of time. It was a wise decision to start him today and benching him wasn't going to do anything. Get rid of the rust now, or he's never getting rid of it.

I completely agree with this. I feel this team will be fine in the last 3 games but Ben started to somewhat get going in the 2nd half. The guy hadn't taken a snap in a live game in over 4 weeks.

Exactly! Ben usually sucks after missing games due to injury. He would have stunk next week if we had held him out. Hopefully the rust is off, and he'll be back close to normal next week. Plenty of blame to go around, but his lack of sharpness early, was a big factor in SD staying in the game at a time when our defense was totally shutting them down. We could never move the ball to change bad field position, and it eventually bit us in the ass.

Yep. Had to get this one out of the way. I think we'll get classic Big Ben against the Cowboys. And if he doesn't play today, no chance that's happening.

They had to get the rust off of Ben.

This season will come down to 1 game against Cincinnati and they needed Ben ready.

You start your best players when they are healthy enough to play. Ben was able to make all the throws and he moved extemely well. Had to start him.

Like mentioned by a few above if Batch would have started he would have been killed. Let's face it Ben was running for life most of the game.
