I did a lot of great things in the off-season. It hasn’t all been fun, though. I’ve been working out hard. I’m up to 248 pounds right now, no fat. I’ve got my abs back.
...

Now it’s time to get ready for training camp on Friday. I’ve been working out like a dog so camp will be easy for me and I’m in some serious shape. I’ve been working out hard, doing two-a-days, working out then running or lifting. My trainers have me on some supplements now and I’m improving my wind, speed and strength so everything is going well.
...

Lawrence Timmons is a linebacker with the Pittsburgh Steelers. it s good to read a tidbit of positive news for a change.

timmons led all ILB's in sacks last year with 7. i expect him to raise that total by atleast 2. we may have 3 backers with double digit sacks with troy and smith back.

im hyped.

How can you not like this guy?

"I have set some goals for myself this season. Making the Pro Bowl is No. 1 on my agenda, and of course we all want to win another Super Bowl. I want to be in the high teens in sacks, maybe 17 or 18. That would be a good way to help the team win".

Great News.

Now...play against the run a little better.

It is his year to compete among the best LB crew in the NFL. This year he needs to supplant Harrison or Woodley as "backfield monster" in order to live up to his draft position.

Now Im HYPED for TRAINING CAMP!!!! I loved this guy in college and was EXTREMELY excited when we drafted him. We all knew he was young and raw when we took him and would probably be a work in progress. Maybe this is the season he lives up to that potenial.

I hope so, provided this season will even happen (possible NFL lockout)!

High teens in sacks?! That would be unbelievable. Hopefully he can stay healthy and live up to his own expectations this year. Maybe he'll finally show that 1st round pick talent.

Now I'm excited! Timmons had enough time to learn the playbook and to play inside LB, its time for his breakout season!

Anything above 10 sacks will simply be amazing!

an ILB with 17 sacks? He must be dreaming.

Like I said before - I'd be happy with him making it out of preseason without another high ankle sprain or other disability. Baby steps.

Very true. I'd like to see him focus more on improving against the run instead of getting more sacks.

Having suffered a high ankle sprain twice in my life plus a torn ligament (all before football season), i totally get where Timmons is coming from. You guys have to understand that it's not the north-south immobility that kills you the most, it's the lateral immobility. That's why Timmons missed those tackles. Those injuries nag you for a long time, even if you can play.

This is THE year Timmons bludgeons and unloads on opposing skill players

Dammit! This is the worst news! Now he's gonna be too expensive to keep! TRADE HIM NOW! :peep:

Man, I hope you're right. I really have been rooting for the guy to do well since we drafted him, but he just hasn't taken that next step, yet. Hopefully this year will be his year.

He was one of the youngest kids drafted when we took him. You have to take into account the extra time it could take to develop him, especially in our complex fire-zone blitz schemes. He's a grown boy now (still only 24!!)

Oh, still remember that one. Classic!

Get all the sacks you want timmons, but improve against the run please!
