Anyone catch that replay? Must've been the first quarter. I think it was #44 coming down the line and absolutely decleating Hampton. I don't think I've ever seen a nose tackle get lit up like that. UGLY!

Leach will light up any player in the NFL who doesn't see him coming. No exception.

Leach? Pretty sure that was Matt Birk. It happened right off the snap. That was pretty embarassing, but ill give Hampton a pass just because he raped him during the 1st matchup

wow. That's just, WOW. Leach is the best FB in the league, but jesus casey, thats a fullback. You're supposed to be swallowing up double teams on guys about 40-60lb heavier than that.

It was typical Hampton ala fat, weak, slow and off balance : )

Still scratching my head as to why McLendon doesn't get more reps. Hampton is being used more this year than the last 2 years.

Do they think he found a chocolate fountain of youth in his snack pantry?

It didn't look like Casey saw him coming...even though Leach was right in front of him.

I forget who brought it up (86Ward or zulater maybe?) but im starting to believe in that whole theory about how Heyward and Mclendon are maybe getting limited snaps to lower their price tag in free agency so they arent so expensive for us. Our cap is ridiculous enough as it is. Sounds crazy, but seems to me theres at least a grain of truth in that theory

Leach wasn't wrapped in a hot dog bun.

I really hope they don't re-sign Hampton for another year or more. Just let him go regardless of the pay cut.

Look, guys, all the criticism of Casey over the past couple years is legit, but that play is indicative of nothing. Hampton didn't see Leach coming, and like I said, nobody can take a hit like that from Leach and not leave his feet.

Hampton shouldn't even start anymore. He needs to retire after this season. To add, Steve needs to more playing time. Steve penetrates the line of scrimmage more and causes more issues for opposing teams.

It's evident Mr. Hampton has lost a step and he can be gone in 2013 due to salary cap stuff. Good thing we have McClendon and Heyward.

Leach is an animal! Probably the best fullback in the league right now. Could you imagine our run game if we had his style of blocking. Not to mention he was getting short yardage catches against us Sunday. Poor Hampton did get destroyed on that play. Come on in McClendon!

Total bullshit. Hampton needs a breather more than he used to, he isn't going to run ten yards down the field and make a tackle. But this misnomer amongst Steeler fans that he's been playing poorly for a few seasons now is absolute garbage. He's still one of the hardest defensive linemen to move in this league and it consistently shows up on tape. Don't just throw something out there when it's completely false hoping people will believe you.

And it was Leach, but Hampton didn't see him. He was pushing his man down the line for the linebacker assigned to that gap to come in and take it. Also, usually when the fullback comes inside like that a defensive teammate is supposed to yell out a warning to the down linemen.

All this bashing on our vets that have given years of service, and have performed quite well, that could be starters on other teams.I just don't get it.They gettin old? Sure they are. So are you my friend. I would keep him for as long as he wanted to stay.Even if he was just a back-up for insurance on the d-line.You can't teach experience. You have to learn it.

Can't afford the cap hit for that much experience. McLendon has shown he can play. There IS a reason that Joe Greene is not a player anymore.

He won't bring anything in the playoffs. Sorry to inform you, but players get old and need to be cut or sat on the bench. One of those players is Hampton. He will be gone at the end of the season.

You need to watch the games for the last few seasons. Hampton has not been difficult to redirect. This has nothing to do with him being embarrassed by Leach. Hampton has been a liability for last few seasons. Hoke should have been starting. Nice attempt at trying to fool me into thinking Hampton has played well. I'll let the games speak for themselves. Hampton at this point in his career is nothing more than a fat body.

Interesting how you compare, but in my own belief Casey is an asset to this team.A pure 3/4 nose tackle getting old? To replace what he does, and has done, may take a lot more than you may think. He has been a force for so long, and is still making plays. He was credited with a sack recently. To me that means he is still doing his job.Sure he has to go shortly, but if you are a benifit to the team , then negotiate. If i was Tomlin , which i am not,i would find a cap friendly way to keep him around. Did you talk to "Dick" about this matter?

keyword being lineMAN, not lineMEN. Hampton just doesnt command double teams anymore. If he sticks on this team any longer it's only going to be for depth purposes and because there would be a lot of dead money if we cut him

So that must explain his sack he was recently credited for. They stopped doubling him up,so he is free to make a play now.Just like in the old days, before teams realized they better put two men on him,and even chop him down on the line.

So your criteria on keeping Hampton is based on a sack? Seems to me I can easily lists hundreds of players who have a sack. No one is saying Hampton hasn't made a play once in awhile. Most are saying that for what he is paid he is not worth keeping. He needs to be a bench player, but I doubt he would play much at all. He can't play on passing downs because he is just too slow. Hampton is a shell of his former self. As Psycho said, he doesn't command double teams. I am sure he is doubled at times, just as many other NTs are too, but it's not like it was 4+ years ago. Hampton could be worth keeping if he lost weight. If he could get down to 325 he would be much improved. As of now he is just a fat, off balance, old man.

Mclendon should be starting or at least given more playing time.

No denying that Casey had his day and his time as one of the premier nose tackles in the NFL. Unfortunately, he is a victim of the same effect that we all suffer under, Father Time. Casey was a beast in his day. Casey is not a beast today. That is not a personal attack. That is not what any of us want to see happen. However, none of us are exempt from the effect of time on our bodies.

He is nowhere near his glory days, and it would be wise for the Steelers to groom his heir. I, for one, believe McLendon should have been given more reps this year. However, I am not a coach, nor do I have any influence. It is my opinion that Hampton should be gone at the end of this year and replaced with younger, fresher talent.
