Leftwich injuries

Injury was my big fear for him going into this game and just falling after a TD was enough to do something to his shoulder. But, I don't think that's where the rib injury happened. Did anyone catch what did it? Seems like whenever it happened, his passing game went to crap.

Don't know - but yeah, with that many injuries and the fact that we can't depend on him to make it through a game without being hurt, I gotta say adios. Hopefully, we can find a decent QB backup in the draft next year. Either that, or bring in a free-agent.

If the Steelers continue to trot Lefty out we easily go win less until Ben is healthy , if they Play Charlie Batch I think we recover nicely , no it wont be Ben but we will get some wins ...

I will not be shocked to hear Lefty has a season ending injury sometime today or at the very least something that the team determines will limit his availability as the starter and Batch takes the reins for next week vs the Browns

it's amazing the number of times that Dixon(2010), Batch(2008,2009) and Leftwith(2010,2011,2012) have been injured during the pre-season or regular season, even if they play very rarely

Jarrod Johnson knows the playbook and looked good in preseason. I think he is the most likely candidate to be picked up to be the #2 QB. It seems really weird that they didn't put him on the PS last week.

The Saints, the Colts in the Manning era, the Packers right now have all the worst backup that the steelers

Jason LaCanfora of CBSSports.com reports that the Steelers fear that they will be without quarterback Byron Leftwich “a while” because of the rib and shoulder injuries Leftwich suffered in the 13-10 loss to Baltimore on Sunday night. Per LaCanfora, they expect to work out quarterbacks this week although there’s no word if Tyler Palko or Brodie Croyle are on the list.

All of that lends support to the notion that Ben Roethlisberger will miss another couple of weeks as a result of his own shoulder and rib injuries. In his Monday Morning Quarterback column for SI.com, Peter King spoke to a thorasic surgeon who said Roethlisberger could risk further damage by returning too soon. That doctor hasn’t examined Roethlisberger, so we can’t know what too soon might be in this case but there aren’t any indications that it will be in time for him to play in Week 12.

That would leave the Steelers with a wounded (and therefore possibly less effective after failing to set the world on fire Sunday) Leftwich, Charlie Batch or whatever might be behind door number three. Not exactly where you want to find yourself with only a one game lead in the Wild Card race.

It is not like the FO couldn't see this coming. They may have very well cost an attempt at a playoff run by burying their head in the sand.

Going with Lefty and Batch as the backups was a disaster waiting to happen. No way Ben makes it through a whole season without some down time. And Lefty, well, glass put together with Scotch tape. Now we are down to Batch with, what Cotchery as the backup?

Well said Preach, I was thinking the same thing.

As far as the season, I think it can be salvaged. Batch will start next week and I think pull off the win. Lets wait and see who they work out this week too.
