Bllomberg is worse than a democrat. He's a politician who favors more government that has bounced between parties before eventually just calling himself an independant. I think he was too radical for even the democrats.

Bounces around based on convenience. He was a lifelong Dem. When he decided to run for mayor, he switched because the R primary was less crowded. Then he went independent because he no longer needed this strategy.

The party-hoppers are the worst breed of politician because they are absolutely shameless. At least some of the hardcore democrats and republicans believe in what they preach. This guy just joined whatever party offered the easiest route to power.

He has two legacies. First, he was the main point man in Congress for making sure that Medicare Part D wasn't allowed to negotiate prices. He retired at the end of that term and his son ran for the seat. Billy Jr's entire career experience? Working as a lobbyist for the telecom industry, and guess who was the chair of the House telecommunications subcommittee at the time??

Second legacy is that after retiring, Billy Sr. took a job as the top lobbyist for Big Pharma, which of course had NOTHING to do with his handout to them. He was the guy who bankrolled all the pro-Obamacare propaganda ads in 2009.

It would be nice if aliens showed up and took all the politicians with them. I can't imagine we could get a wose crop than what we have now.

I've spent some time in Harrisburg and the capital building is a joke. There is all of about three minutes worth of progressive conversation and the rest of the time (at the senate and house meetings) consists of whoever has the floor bitching about something partisan related while the rest of the congregation talks amongst themselves usually about sports or television shows. The lack of concern is worse than most even imagine. There are a few who I've met who take their job seriously though and hold their office with passion for what they believe in. Those guys usually don't last long.
