JONATHAN DWYER
Running Back

With 107 yards rushing on 17 carries against the Redskins at Heinz Field, Jonathan Dwyer (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/jonathan-dwyer/5bfae686-9098-4bb3-85aa-bfd8c720d223/) became the first Steelers back to post consecutive 100-yard games since Willie Parker. The 100-yard game also was Dwyer’s third in a career in which he has played only 13 games over his first three pro seasons. Add in one catch for 8 yards, and Dwyer had 115 yards from scrimmage in the Steelers’ 27-12 victory.

Jonathan Dwyer is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Larry Foote (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/larry-foote/8bbeec8c-cae8-4d79-8c84-eb94ce439442/), who had six tackles, including two for loss, and the team’s only sack of Robert Griffin III; Will Allen (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/will-allen/12e7d31e-6126-4194-b4cf-71d15fa45f6b/), who had five tackles and three passes defensed; Keenan Lewis (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/keenan-lewis/6c9eadd4-6bba-4848-bb2c-6cfb0997ba3a/), who had two tackles and three passes defensed; Lawrence Timmons (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/lawrence-timmons/afc86dd7-633e-4e37-a4da-5f089a96b666/), who had two tackles and three hits on the quarterback; Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/roster/ben-roethlisberger/54dda34e-9e43-4c57-9397-1143ddced5d6/), who completed 24-of-33 for 222 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions; and an offensive line that paved the way for the running backs to average 5.2 yards per carry, for Roethlisberger not to be sacked, and for the Steelers to enjoy an edge in time of possession of better than six minutes.

Dude is SOLID! Curious to see if any Redman supporters out there think Redman is the better option out of the backfield?

Dwyer won my vote since the Cincy game. This game just solidifies it.

I still cant believe he's the 1st Steelers RB since Parker to post back to back 100 yard games. Couldve sworn Mendenhall was in that mix somewhere. Either way, all of a sudden it looks like we have a pretty loaded stable of runningbacks

Dwyer is awesome ! Now, what happens with Mendy ? Dwyer was a big factor in these last 2 victories, you surely can't sit him. I don't think I would want to be Coach Tomlin in the next few meetings. LOL

These are the problems you dream of. Kudos to the O Line as well.

Will be very interesting to see the return of a healthy Mendy and Redman. Mendy will probably go for a buck 50 when he finally plays. But he has to be consistent.

Yep. Having many options in the backfield is better than having none. Tomlin should ride the hot hand (but not his wheels off). Mendy should heal completely before coming back. No need to rush him back. Redman too.

Maybe give equal playing time to both. I hate the thought of Dwyer sitting and watching Mendy just run in the back of the line for his 1 or 2 yrds.. Plus, it would be a headache for the opponent to have to game plan for. I know Mendy can bust one sometimes, but Dwyer is just so hard to bring down and he's picking up the yardage needed. I don't care what he says, you know he's not going to want to be on the bench watching. Tough decision and like said earlier, sure is nice to have such problems.

I think we will see a very "motivated" Rashard once he returns to the lineup. He is going to flourish in this offense. If he falters after he is healthy, that it is next man up. Of course, I think Tomlin will mix up the RBs during the game, but the starter should be Mendy when he is back to full health.

You keep riding Dwyer until he runs out of gas. No reason to change anything with the O.

Mendenhall is still number one with Dwyer a solid #2. Good problem to have and a great one two punch...

Dwyer appeared to be injured after his last carry. Groin?

Mendy's going to, and should get the start when he's ready. I mean, there is a DISTINCT difference when he's running the ball. With the holes the O line is opening now, I think it's going to be explosive. Then, sit him half way through the third quarter, and start feeding Dwyer to close out the game. If he can come in fresh and run downhill in the third quarter, it's going to be real ugly for defenses trying to stop him.
