Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert could miss up to two months with a right ankle injury suffered during last week’s loss to Tennessee, according to teammate Maurkice Pouncey.

“He’s going to miss a significant amount of time, maybe up to six weeks,” said Pouney, who is dealing with a knee injury that might keep him out of Sunday’s game against Cincinnati. “I don’t think it’s anything that is season-ending, but we’ve got to give him time to heal and get his body right.”

Gilbert, who has been wearing a protective boot on his right foot, flew to Charlotte, N.C., Monday to consult a specialist.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Gilbert has a tendon injury in his ankle that does not require surgery.

Rookie second-round pick Mike Adams will start in place of Gilbert.

At this point - good, might as well get all the injuries out of the way this season in hopes that by the law of averages, the next one will be better.

Unfortunately that's not how the law of averages works. We are forced to rely on something far more mystical, like karma or something.

I don't care for Gilbert. Maybe i'm just mad because he's literally single-handedly injured three of our players already this year, but I think Adams will fill in fine.

If nothing else it'll give Adams a lot of good experience. Hopefully it doesn't also get Ben killed.

At the rate that klutz Gilbert had been falling into our other linemen's legs, it was only a matter of time before it happened to Ben with him out there anyway...

If Adams is still struggling when DeCastro comes back I wonder if they would consider moving Colon back out to right tackle?

It's unlikely. It would have to be really dire to do that. Not only has Colon not played RT in a long time but you'd also have to either move DeCastro to LG or Foster to LG. That's a lot of shifting. Plus I'm not not sure DeCastro will be back at full strength before Gilbert. Gilbert tweeted today that it won't be 2 months, for whatever that's worth.

With Gilbert out it should cut injuries to the other linemen by 50%.
