This London or any other game being hosted overseas needs to go away. NFL Europe was a much better idea and it didn't work so why do this???

Hey, bright side, people. Maybe us sucking on the road only applies if you can actually get there by road.

Road games. Sucks for steeler fans in that area but I'm sure the European Steeler fans are going to invade that place. I consider this a 9th home game.

I'm sure ti will be loaded with Black and Gold faithful. I'm not a fan of these London games, but the way the owner of the Jags talks he'll be doing split seasons in London one day soon

Rumor is that James Harrison is excited about possibly having tea with the Queen.

I also hear he's a big fan of antiquing and England has tons of wonderful shops for fine china and trinkets.

Worthless Roger is hell bent on this over sea experiment and, he knows that the NFL Europe failed right?

It failed as a developmental league, but I think he's convinced that a real NFL franchise in Europe would succeed and be the catalyst for a European division.
I'm on the fence.

Great that we lose a road game but it will be a very early bye for us ( like this year )

WOOHOO!!!! I am SO there!! I agree generally with the sentiment of keeping the NFL in the US, but I'm happy about this for selfish reasons (I won't have to spend 2000 Euros to fly over & see the Steelers this time!!!)

I would have killed to see a game when I was in Germany. Back then, we didn't even have AFN in Munich and had to travel to Augsburg just to see the Super Bowl on TV.
A trip to London would have been very feasible.

I'm trying to look at this from a strict advantage vs. disadvantage angle. In general it's a disadvantage compared to the other teams in your division because of travel, distractions, etc. Obviously it's much better to play a road game over there than give up a home game, and given that it will probably be a pretty good Vikings team we're facing it could potentially turn a loss into a win by taking away their home field advantage.
It is nice to hear from our European fans how excited they are about this. I have to imagine the Steelers have a much bigger following over there than the Vikings. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of Europeans find "Vikings" as a team mascot kind of offensive, especially those in coastal towns. :wink02:

I agree. This is nothing but a money grab. Goodell wants a team in London and they're seeing if it's feasible.

I would have loved this if it had happened during the 3 years I lived in the UK - - - and I know that there should be a huge 'local' fan base there.... I just hate that we will be adding the extreme travel time and distractions to our schedule, and since I am only 5+ hours from the Twin cities, if we had been scheduled to play the Vikings there, I would have been at that game for sure for sure... But, I now have something to add to my 'bucket list' - - - I would love to go back to the UK to visit some good friends that I had given up hope of ever meeting in person again - - - something to aim for.....

Over/under on "Big Ben" references on the networks for the week leading up and including the game. I say 2970 - roughly.

Can't wait for the first time an English reporter asks why he's called Big Ben ;)

They suck with a long flight West. Maybe a long flight East will make them invincible.

Regardless of how I feel about NFL being overseas now, I think that they really missed their opportunity. This should have been done in the early 80's when we had millions of military/dependents overseas that would have flooded stadiums. It would have been a boon to the morale as well.
